    I've used my blender before, which made a very fine grind. I wouldn't recommend it, but it made beer. If you do use something like that, use a BIAB bag if you have one else you'll end up with a very cloudy wort because of the flour produced.

    A wee update; this turned out remarkably well. In the end, I didn't use frozen fruit, I simply tipped a litre of mixed tropical fruit juice in the keg, racked the prison hooch on top, force carbonated it and stuck it in the keezer. It tastes EXACTLY like Lilt :laugh8:

    That's normal, mines does it too. I'm also paranoid about losing all my gas at the moment as I will be unable to get a refil for the forseeable, so I'm switching off my gas when I'm not using the system. I turn it on periodically to ensure that everything is suitably carbonated when I want a beer.

    Evaporative cooling isn't very efficient, and might cause damp in your flat. Putting your fermentor in a builder's trug with cold tap water and bottles of frozen water might help to keep things cool during the summer months.     Thanks @Keruso , I didn't rehydrate, just pitched straight in and so far there's nothing. It smells funky in my fridge too, not sure if something has spoiled or if I'm just getting CO2 venting from somewhere other than the bubbler.

    Anyone noticed lag with the US Pale yeast? I pitched on Sunday and I'm not seeing any activity yet. No bubbles through the airlock, but more concerningly, no krausen. Temperature was a bit low maybe, but I've just raised it from 18 to 20 degrees, so I'll just wait and hope that all is ok.

    I don't take FG readings most of the time, I just assume after 3 weeks it's as done as it'll be and package it :laugh8:
