The Range store make your own rosé wine. (rebranded 20/8/2019)

I've just ordered one of the Rosé kits to give it a go. Wife and I prefer dry wines, but occasionally enjoy a bottle of Mateus which got me thinking about this kit... My intention (may be silly) is to keg 19 litres of it to have draft "Mateus" in the fridge and bottle the rest. Silly...

I've nothing against them, they're great basses :)

Not really, I like them, but I have the Thunderbird because of a fella I like called Toshi who is currently playing with the Professionals whom I like very much. He's done a few things with my musical hero, Ginger Wildheart. And let's face it, it's a welcome change to the millions of J and P...

Anyone else fed up with NEIPA?

I used to drink a LOT of Deuchars when I was a lad, and I think I've completely skunnered myself on any form of IPA, be it trad British, New England, West Coast etc... I much prefer pale ales, stouts and German style lagers these days, and I don't have to go throwing 250g hops into a 5 gallon...

My main live guitar is an Epi Silverburst LP in my profile pic... Thunderbird rumble hammer on the left, Ibanez PS10. Telecaster that I painted and assembled at the start of lockdown. Also have but not photographed, Epi Explorer with EMG81/85 pups, Washburn Dimebag thingy, MiJ Squier Strat...

Wort Chiller - Is it really necessary?

I've been doing no chill for about a year now, and I really like it. I don't have running water or drainage in my garage where I brew, so the logistics of running hoses from the utility room to the kettle and back again are a bit too much to overcome. I'm not that concerned with bacterial or...

Crossmyloof "Hell" Lager Yeast - opinions

Somewhere between the two of us there's probably a decent brewer :laugh8:

Crossmyloof "Hell" Lager Yeast - opinions

I'm not suggesting that my schedule is correct. I leave it such a long time because I'm pretty lazy :laugh8:

Crossmyloof "Hell" Lager Yeast - opinions

I've used it a few times for dunkels, festbiers and helles lagers. I've always pitched two packets and fermented at 12degC for a fortnight, then ramped up a degree per day until it's at 18degC, held for 3 days, then cold crashed until I could be arsed kegging it. The beers have always come out...

    Hopcat fiasco :(

I've used mine with hot and chilled wort, no difference. Not sure about lots of hops as I use a spider and I don't make particularly hoppy beer. Anyways, here's what I bought...

    Hopcat fiasco :(

The filter included for the pump inlet is comically undersized. I bought a helix from AliExpress and haven't looked back, no more clogging. Hope you get yours sorted.

    Making cider with no press

I'm making cider at the weekend from a glut of apples from my neighbours and in-laws. I've got a press but no scratter, so I'm planning on quartering the apples, putting them in a builders trug and hitting them with a fence post until they're pulped.

    Tropical Stout recipe check

https://beerandbrewing.com/make-your-best-tropical-stout/ I've been reading up on these a bit, and this one seems to suggest fruity hops too. Thinking about it, flavours of pineapple, chocolate, vanilla and coconut could be awesome in a stout... Pina Colada Porter... PCP... Hmm, I might be on...

    Tropical Stout recipe check

Maybe the thought is that it throws out some fruity esters or something..? I'm thinking about using a fruity Kveik to boost the tropical flavours, maybe Sanders or Funky Pineapple from CML. I'll have think. I have plenty of CML5 but that seems quite neutral so I'll likely save that for...

Interesting that your recipe uses lager yeast rather than ale yeast...

    Tropical Stout recipe check

Comments welcome - I've never made a tropical impy stout before and I quite fancy one for Christmas. I'm thinking that I'll also soak cacao nibs, vanilla and coconut (and pineapple maybe?) in some spiced rum and throw that in for the last week of fermentation to boost the tropicalness... Title...

Cooling - Am I doing anything wrong?

That's what I do - have a look on YouTube for 'no chill' brewing.

    Timber for keezer collar

Best get out the tape measure :D Also, bear in mind that you'll eventually have to lift a 25kg keg up and over the lip, which isn't as easy as it sounds.
