    Keezer insulation question

I didn't bother with collar insulation, the timber is about 50mm thick so I didn't think any additional insulation would help.

hop spider/ vs non and pump issue

I bought one of these mahooosive helix filters and a nipple to plug into the hole on the bottom of my hopcat. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32962319962.html?spm=a2g0s.12269583.0.0.4f1b31eelIDz4o Never had the pump block after this, and I just lob my hops straight into the boiler.

    What did you brew today?

Right from the start. Elemental Brewing on YouTube did an 8 day grain to glass lager, fermented under pressure with SL 34/70 and it didn't smell like farts so I'm hopeful that this works out too :)

How many litres of home brew have you made 2021.

23 litres of APA and 23 litres of a dark wheaty lager 9579 litres

    What did you brew today?

I brewed 23 litres of APA on Friday, and a dark wheat on Saturday. Annoyingly, the tube heater in my fermenting fridge is on the fritz and I'm struggling to keep the APA at 20 celcius. The wheat is in my Fermzilla Allrounder, which'll be my first time doing a pressurised fermentation so I'm...

    Who uses Star San

I just bought a litre of Chem San to replace the leaking bottle of Star San I've been using for a couple of years. I doubt I'll have to buy any more sanitiser for the rest of my life, given it's 10ml CS to 5 litres of water dilution.

What was your first step towards AG?

I skipped kits and extract and went straight into BIAB with a Peco boiler. I watched a few youtube videos and went for it. The first couple of batches were awful, because I didn't understand the importance of the cold side, but once I got my head around it, I've made good beer ever since.

Removing a post form a corny

I bought some refurbed kegs from The Homebrew Company, and I've no idea what they put the posts on with, but I had to use a rattle gun to get them off.

    Hydrometer

I squirt it with starsan and drop it in the fermenter acheers.

    Whisky and soda? Mojitos?

    Hydrometer

I bought a plastic hydrometer, can't remember where from or how much it was though :laugh8:

    Kolsch advice

I've used CML Kolsch yeast lots of times and it's always cleared up nicely. I've never had to fine any of the Kolsch I've made other than a bit of Irish moss in the boiler. If you can't chill your fermenter, than just give it more time before packaging. Even if it isn't perfectly clear, once...

Anyone made a home made kegerator?

@Strangey what did you make your fan ducting from? I've also got some PC fans in my keezer attached to tumble dryer flexi ducting but it's quite awkward and bulky. Your solution looks rather more elegant.

Full volume mash with no sparge for 75 minutes?

This. I've only ever done full volume mashing and I keep going until I hit my numbers and if all else fails, check with iodine.

How many kegs do you own

7 cornies, but could do with maybe another 3 to allow for lager conditioning, and the wife's quite taken with having draught rose wine available :laugh8:

    CML Kolsch yeast

I use 1 pack at 16 Celsius and it's fine.

    Smash brewing

Is it? I've never had Lost Lager before, but I use saaz hops in my Kolsch recipe and like it a lot, so I thought to try to get the true essence of these hops I'd try it with no Magnum bittering addition, and no carapils / wheat malts, and a very clean lager yeast.

    Smash brewing

Planning to brew a simple pilsner / saaz SMaSH next week.

    Carbon Dioxide usage.

I got my tank (6.5kg) filled in March, and I've brewed maybe 6 x 20 batches in this time. So to carbonate and dispense 120+ litres of beer has cost me less than a fiver.
