    What to brew

Lager malt + a bit of the others, mashed at maybe 67degC, bittered with NB and then late/dry hopped with cascade and citra with the No1 Kveik might make some kind of pale ale? I've used that yeast myself and it leaves a citrus finish that might balance nicely with the C-hops.

Brewing Enhancer clumped - what should I do?

It won't change the flavour, but if you think that your starting gravity is 1.040 (because of the clumps of enhancer not registering on the refractomer or hydrometer), but is in fact 1.055, then your beer will have a higher alcohol content than your OG / FG ratio would suggest. Just drink 6...

Brewing Enhancer clumped - what should I do?

As Iain said, the yeast will munch through it. The only slight issue is that your original gravity reading would be under, but it's not really that big of a deal.

    CML Gretel yeast

For those that have used this yeast, does it really attenuate as much as the packet says? When I plug in 87% into the recipe generator it drys the beer out below the BJCP guidelines for the style I'm attempting to brew.

    Prosecco in a Corny Keg

I've had great success with carbing up The Range Rosé, it came out a bit like Matteus which is ok by me :)

    Ali Express again

I've bought various bits from AliExpress and have never had an issue. I've only bought small items though. For instance, I bought my Fermzilla Allrounder from a UK supplier, then all the peripheral bits for pressure fermenting from AE. It worked out cheaper that way.

Just dumped my first infected batch :(

I just stuck my nose inside the fridge, didn't smell at all. Maybe what I was picking up yesterday was CO2 buildup... Maybe all is not lost after all. I'll bottle this up on Friday and see what happens.

Just dumped my first infected batch :(

It smells like sweet milky baby puke (butyric acid?), the same smell as the APA. They APA started to smell worse as time went on, and wasn't clearing even with finings added to the keg. Now you mention stressed yeast, the APA had a problem where the heat belt failed and I didn't notice until...

Just dumped my first infected batch :(

Everything plastic is getting bleached, everything stainless steel is getting VWP. All the Starsan I'm using in my bottles and line cleaner is getting ditched and replaced, and all the kegs sitting about waiting to get filled will get recleaned, rinsed, sanitised and then purged.

Just dumped my first infected batch :(

Just opened the fridge where the stout is fermenting... same sickly smell. Effed it

Just dumped my first infected batch :(

Yup, my fault. Currently stripping down all my kegs, replacing all the O rings and deep cleaning them and my fermenters and kettle. Stupid boy.

Just dumped my first infected batch :(

Just threw a keg of APA down the sink, my first infected batch. Feelsbadman.jpg My own fault, obviously. I was getting cocky and a bit lax with cleaning. I REALLY hope that the problem was the keg, because I threw a batch of stout onto the yeast cake from the APA, so my laziness might have...

SS Brewtech Keg washer, anyone have one?

I made one with a pond pump, some JG bits, some beer line, couple of ball lock quick connects and a builder's tub.

    No sparge apa

I am a no-sparge advocate, because I'm lazy and it saves time during my brew day, and saves me having another water heater (I too have an all in one system). I get about 70% efficiency which is enough for me. One of my 'house' beers is an APA based on Sierra Nevada Pale, recipe from their...

    Unpredictable efficiency on all-in-one system

I do full volume mashes in my Hopcat, slowly add the grain and stir in well, and I recirculate for the whole mash. I tend not to use the top plate so I can stir things a few times during the mash, and I hit my numbers fairly regularly. I also don't bother with a predetermined mash time, I just...

    Souring a Dry Irish Stout?

Rumour has it, Guinness is made with a portion of soured wort, and I happened upon this video today which explains the process at a homebrew level. Anyone tried it? Anyone willing to give it a go? I've got a stout on my 'to brew' list, and this video has got me thinking... Should I try an...

mm for grain crusher - where to start?

You don't if you do a full volume mash, but that's for another conversation.

    Keezer/Keggerator Dilemma.

I built a keezer, but if you've any kind of dodgy back or tennis elbow or anything, please remember that lifting a full keg into position, over the top of a chest freezer with collar, isn't easy. So much so, that I'm setting up a winch to help me.

    What did you learn today?

This is why I do almost everything half arsed :D

    What did you learn today?

I've learned that one of my fridges is very, very cold and that it will freeze 25 litres of dark lager overnight
