Have a go at simple AG

Keep an eye on it as it may take less than hour. And 30 minutes is generally enough anyway.

Have a go at simple AG

Congrats. Possibly the first brewer ever to use an iSpindle in their first all grain brew! Maintaining a mash temp is tricky with small volumes. Nowadays I mash in my stove top brews below 60C with all the water in the mash. Rather than try to hold a temperature I just put it on the lowest heat...

    NELSON SAUVIN Ideas for use

NS is one of a crowd of hops in Punk. Not as easy to identify I think. But a beer that you can use NS in of course.

    NELSON SAUVIN Ideas for use

Thornbridge Kipling was my introduction to NS a good few years ago along with Marble Dobber and Marble Pint. Three excellent beers.

    Old brewer but new here

You use steel pots as fermenters, Les? What are these exactly? The sort of thing you might boil your beer in, re-purposed? I have some I could use for that instead of plastic, perhaps.

    Why do people boil DME?

I always boil starter wort in a flask and cool it and then pitch yeast into that. Gives me peace of mind. Minimise the chance of infection. Wort and flask both get the heat treatment. I only have one flask though so occasionally I sterilise a jar or two and transfer boiled wort to them, on the...

    In my opinion today

I love mushrooms but they don't fit into an English breakfast. Whereas hash browns do, for me. Maybe because my mum would sometimes fried up left over mashed potato with a breakfast and that was good. I've never had bubble and squeak at home or made it myself but I might actually do that this...

What's the point of all the different Lager yeasts....

It's at odds with the approach taken when selecting yeasts for ales because lagers take a lot longer than ales traditionally and people want to make lagers as quickly as they make ales, and in the same way if possible - at ale temperatures. If the results are acceptable. How many lager strains...

Dry yeasties; Hydrate or not? - the final answer from Lallemand

One pesto jar? It's all you need. Hide it behind the big jar of mayo or something.

Dry yeasties; Hydrate or not? - the final answer from Lallemand

I just sprinkle and put the lid on too. It mixes itself in. It's not a critical decision though according to the info put out by Fermentis and Lallemand. I'm happiest when I'm pitching a lively starter and I think a lot of people miss out on this by always pitching a new pack of dried yeast...

Cheers. So it worked with the First Gold bitter. You used it in a golden ale with Tropical England mix I believe... PilgrimHudds Brewdays

Any thoughts on the CML Atlantic yeast, pilgrim?

Whats the best serving pressure for stout.

Well that's good but we are allowed to express opinions I think. More a case of how we do that.

Whats the best serving pressure for stout.

I'm not sure Guinness solved a problem with nitrogen? Just found a different way to serve stout, I think, which had ben a very popular beer for a long time previously. Maybe you mean it solved the problem of how to serve from the keg, and kegs can't have been around very long back then. Bottle...

Hazy Yeast. What does it bring to the party?

    So it's just an idea.

Hazy Yeast. What does it bring to the party?

What is hazy yeast anyway? Is it a thing?

    Novalager

Sounds like an ale lager hybrid. Which makes sense given that Novalager is an ale lager hybrid... Two thirds ale one third lager I think. Genetically speaking.

Hazy Yeast. What does it bring to the party?

The Chateau base malts are really nice, but difficult to get hold of in the UK. The HBC did sell them, not sure if they still do.
