No worries. Apologies from me too. There's far more that conjoins us. Or something! ;)

You're getting a bit insulting, AA, so I'll dip out here. It's not a good place to debate this stuff, nothing gained. I think you are not seeing the bigger picture. Or understanding the way politics works here, and what is like trying to lead the Labour party and to get elected. And you are not...

    That's nonsense I'm sorry.

But that's not what Abbot said and the last thing we need is competition to decide who is treated the worst. The way forward is to unite against all forms of racism and avoid any divisive rhetoric. Diane Abbot really should know better. In my opinion. She even appeared to equate the treatment...

A lot of it is borne of racism and hatred. Less intelligent people with good intentions don't say such things. But we shouldn't compare the behaviour with Boris because he is not a yardstick and doesn't justify other people making divisive statements. Racism needs confronting and not quibbling...

This nothing to do with Boris.

Then why is she getting so mixed up about who is the subject of racism and who isn't? After all this time and with all her experience?

Diane Abbot's original wording was pretty shocking imo in it's lack of awareness and the potential to cause offence and division. And its ignorance tbh. It is hard to believe she could be so 'clumsy', in writing, having held senior positions in the party, and after living through an...

A hell of a lot did last time. It's a question of how many of those return.

I disagree with you here. The comments from the Jewish Labour Movement in the BBC article are spot on in my opinion and cover what needs to be said. She has lost the whip pending an enquiry. Rightly so. She ought to know a lot better. And then Prime Minister.

Yes Simpson's would do it. Crisp brown malt is only 130/140 ish. Huge difference! Very different things. edit: turns out Simpson's is what I have. Happy days.

I'm not sure how they are are getting that dark brown colour from those ingredients, any thoughts? I'm feeling tempted to add crystal and choc malts but that's what i normally do with a brown so I'll resist and see what this brings - when I get round to it.

Exactly - you have plenty of info to adapt a recipe to suit your equipment and your ABV and IBU preferences etc.

Yes just adjust the first addition. Or switch hops. I think the malts and yeast are the keys.

Awesome! I'm gonna brew that too. Right up my street. Cheers! So they used the West Yorkshire that they also put in the Abbey ale. Odd that he has said Target - but I wouldn't sweat it too much myself. Either should be fine.

I think you may get some info from them. They seem good sorts. Good luck. And let us know if you do get info. I like the sound of it. I like a brown ale with plenty of bitterness and a decent amount of late hops. I like brown malt. I've been using Verdant yeast in my brown ales and porters with...

Kirkstall's house yeast is WLP001, though they do use other yeasts for some brews. They did an all English Abbey ale with West Yorkshire yeast, as one of their revival beers. But they'd likely mention it if they used a different yeast. I think they'd probably mention all the specialty malts too...
