    C02 cylinder?

No, nothing missing, it looks pretty much the same as my other CO2 cylinders but this one requires the pin/plug to be depressed for the CO2 to be released?

Beer engine - worth a punt?

Just an update, I went to have a look at these 2 handpulls and they were in a dreadful state, I can see now why they were only £20 each. I'm willing to do some work on them but not the amount either of these needed.

    C02 cylinder?

I've just gone to attach my reg to a replacement C02 cylinder and noticed that there is a pin on the cylinder outlet that looks like it might be secondary safety feature? When the cylinder is turned on nothing comes out of it unless the pin is depressed, which I have confirmed with a...

Beer engine - worth a punt?

Please do. I have no idea what I am faced with and how to (maybe) fix them. Who knows though, they may just need a good clean.

Beer engine - worth a punt?

I think I'm going to get them, it's got to be worth it - 2x for £40.

Beer engine - worth a punt?

I would but I hate eBay & the plan is to get a working hand pull for myself 😁

Beer engine - worth a punt?

If all else fails I suppose I could polish up the brass, revarnish the wood and use as a showpiece/ornament 👍

Beer engine - worth a punt?

Looks like it might just be O rings for the seals, maybe a plumbers merchant could supply them 🤔

    Dark Farm all grain kits

Has anyone tried the Black IPA all grain kit from Dark Farm? Is it worth getting? I like stouts and IPAs and this sounds like something in-between maybe? Thanks

Beer engine - worth a punt?

Hi, I have been offered 2x Angram beer engines/hand pulls , they have come from a pub strip down and I've been told that they are unsure of the working condition etc. Is it worth a punt @ £20 each? Maybe buy both and use one to strip down and see how they work before I make a mistake? Anyone...

    Grainfather

I think mine was most definitely down to the pump, I had stripped it down and everything was clear and free running but it wouldn't even pump clear hot water. To solve it I decided to work backwards, the pump worked fine when cold but not when it got hot. That suggested that something was...

I think I may have fixed the pump today. I set my mind to it and worked backwards from where the problem starts and fingers crossed, it seems to now be working ok. Not sure I REALLY trust it 100% to do a full brew though, I suspect it may fail again right at the worst time.

I don't know if it has a name but it's a magnetic drive pump as per the attachment.

Wow.... I was going to ask where you were and if local it maybe would be better if I collected it - Australia is a but of a trek though ha. Yes I'm guessing postage will be a bit and yes we get stung, price wise quite alot over here for everything. £12:50 for the pump, that just shows how...

I am interested please. How much would you want for it please? Thank you Sorry for the late reply.

Is there a way to fix it then?

    Grainfather

I'm not disputing that it is a copy of another pump or that it is food, chemical or heat safe but when mine first failed I looked online to see if anyone had found a way of fixing it. It appears that ALOT of people have had similar failures with the same pump. Not a chance of me spending over...

    Grainfather

Already on with that, I have now re-routed the piework and added a tap (one of the downsides of the grainfather) just waiting for the pump to arrive. The new one was only £50, so less than half the price of the underpowered/unreliable grainfather version. One of the other downsides of the...

    Grainfather

I have stripped the pump down a number of times, the impellor was/is very clean and free of debris etc. Its now not working again but only at low temperatures. It seams to work fine at low temperatues but above around 70C it just buzzes and refuses to do anything. Perhaps that was the problem...

    Grainfather

Strangely I have just disconnected the pump I have been using and re-connected the original, which just used to buzz and do nothing else, and it is now working perfectly. I have also now located the maltpipe but not the screens or overflowpipe. Perhaps it'd be wprth buying new ones and having a...
