    Unmalted barley

I don't want the unmalted grain to add anything, just to open up the mash and make it more free draining in much the same way that rice hulls do, and don't add anything either. £6 for 20kg is WAY cheaper than buying rice hulls @ £3/kg.

    Unmalted barley

Just a thought. Could you use whole unmalted barley instead of rice hulls, just for the reason to open up the mash? I can get 20kg sacks of it near me for £6 or rolled barley for £6.50?

    Maltpipe plates

Hi, Does anyone know if the perforated top and bottom maltpipe plates for the brewzilla 35L fit into the grainfather G30 maltpipe please? I need some new plates for my grainfather (misplaced mine) and the Brewzilla ones are quite a bit cheaper, I also need both parts of the overflow pipe for the...

Equipment For Sale Grainfather 30 Litre all in one

Yes it's an incomplete G30 connect with the Bluetooth controller. I did think about around £125 but I've decided to adapt it myself now, I didn't think anyone was interested. Thanks.

    1/2" NPT to BSP

I am looking to get a brewing pump from Vevor but it has 1/2" NPT male fittings so I will need female to barb/horsetail. Will 1/2" BSP fit (I know there are differences in the threads). There are different opinions on the net, some say no definitely not while others say yes they will 1/2" is...

    Windsor yeast??

Ah I see, make sense about the names. It's all done and Windsor is in now. How long does Windsor usually take to finish, I'm on no particular rush, I've plenty of other kegs to go at. I'll maybe give it at least 3 weeks now like I usually do and then decide?

    Windsor yeast??

It's an American brown ale. Another one is moose drool. Hope they taste better than they sound 🙂.

    Windsor yeast??

I could yes. Maybe let Windsor do its thing and see were it ends up and how it finishes. I could always add a little Nottingham then if it's not what I'm after.

    Windsor yeast??

Thank you, that's what I was thinking. Windsor obviously finishes slightly because of tgat sweeter so it'll more to the style of the beer. I'll go with that 😉

    Crushed grain shelf life

Exactly that, BBE is a guide as to when something will be at it's best but it's only a guide. Things should not be used after their use by date, doesn't apply to crushed grain though.

    Crushed grain shelf life

I got offered a 25kg bag of crushed pale ale malt for £5 that had a best before date that expired 3 years previously so the crush date will have been a while before then. Thought it was worth a go at that bargain price. I did mash it for longer than normal just in case but I can't say I noticed...

    Windsor yeast??

Hi, I am brewing a Caribou slobber today and the recipe suggests Windsor as the yeast. Looking at reviews of this yeast it doesn't seem very popular and is prone to stalling. What are your thoughts on this yeast please? I am tempted to substitute with either Nottingham or S-04 with Nottingham...

    C02 cylinder?

My thoughts exactly. There is obviously gas still in there and to my mind I should be able to use it all, low pressure or not. Even If they are correct then what they are saying is that you buy 6kg of gas but can only use around 5.5kg of it or in other words for every 12 cylinders you buy you'll...

    C02 cylinder?

It's a cylinder I was given and they think it might be just because it's low on gas. According to the weight it should still have around 0.5 to 1kg in it but they say the pressure may be too low for the valve to work.

    C02 cylinder?

They want me to take the cylinder in to them so they can inspect it but they say it definitely abnormal. Not been in yet.

    C02 cylinder?

I'll post their reply on here when I get it, just in case someone else runs into the same problem.

    C02 cylinder?

I'll get in touch with my supplier tomorrow. Typically this has happened at a weekend when they are closed.

    C02 cylinder?

It's an air liquide food grade CO2 cylinder the same as my other one 🤷
