    Rolled oats

Anyone tried rolled oats (horse feed) in a brew? Was thinking also of maybe boiling some up and then giving it a good wash, dehydrating it and using it instead of rice hulls to open up the wort?

    Munich Malt

That's interesting, I have used Vienna malt as a base malt and I actually preferred it to M/O in my bitters. I now just buy my base malt as whichever is cheapest at the time that I am buying, I am currently using golden promise and don't find it that much different to any other I've tried. Still...

    Starter "liquid"

I have done that in the past but I'm meaning when you don't have anything like that, are there any alternatives at all please?

    Starter "liquid"

When making a starter are there any alternatives to DME or LME that might be common in most households ie would honey, golden syrrup, fruit juice etc be ok? I know not just sugar but for those times when you don't have any DME or LME to hand what do you use?

    16g CO2

Already have cornies and full size CO2 cylinders. Thinking the 10 ltr kegs would be handy and more portable etc. when I go out

    16g CO2

I've already got cornies and 2x 6kg CO2 bottles. I'll see if I can make a work around.

    16g CO2

I have acquired 2x mini 10 liter kegs from dark farm (the tall ones) they came with the tops with taps and the 16g CO2 capsules. Does anyone have any experience with these please? ie. How many 16g capsules will they take, on average, to carbonate and dispense 10ltr of beer please (10-15psi). Or...

    Munich Malt

I only wanted to do a SMaSH because I've never used Munich at 100% or any of those hops before so I wanted to be able to see (taste) what each brings to the table without being masked by other malts or hops. Like I said earlier though, I am fully open to suggestions.

    Munich Malt

Never used any of them before with the exception of cascade, hence the question and why I wanted to do a SMaSH beer.

    Munich Malt

It needs a minimum DP of 30 to convert and Munich has a DP between 35-40 so it should be ok but I'm more than happy to listen to advice, I'm here to learn.

    Munich Malt

I have CN-36, seems to be quite a nuetral yeast when I used it in the past?

    Munich Malt

I am thinking of doing SMaSH tomorrow with Munich malt. It’s the first time I’ve used Munich @ 100% of the grist. I have the following hops, what would anyone recommend to be a good pairing with Munich please? I was thinking Cascade but open to suggestions from the list below? Thank you Admiral...

    Grainfather lid triclamp size

Hi can someone confirm the size of the triclamp for the lid of grainfather conical fermenter please? I've read it's supposed to be 1.5" but I've measured it and the internal ID opening is 34mm and the external is 50mm so neither are 1.5", I'm probably not measuring in the right place but want to...

    Crushed grain shelf life

I thought like that about a mill untill one came available at a price I couldn't refuse. It's much more satisfying to crush my own grain now and being in charge from start to finish.

    Grainfather conical fermenter Vs fridge?

Me too, the fridge is too handy to get rid of.

    Grainfather conical fermenter Vs fridge?

Yours is a bit "posher" than the 2x I picked up. These have just the digital controller, maybe the WiFi controllers will be my next upgrade but for now I'm happy with what I have and for what I paid they were a bargain. .

    Grainfather conical fermenter Vs fridge?

I think the main difference between the grainfather and my fridge/fermenting chamber is that the grainfather is probably a bit more gentle in its heating and cooling but my fridge still holds temp with around a 0.5C swing either side of the set temp.

    Grainfather conical fermenter Vs fridge?

Not a chance of getting anything like that anywhere close to £300 over here. We live in Rip off Brittan.

    Grainfather conical fermenter Vs fridge?

2x fermenters and a glycol chiller, yes it will be.
