    Gas Woes (CO2)

I get mine from Andover Patio Centre. They were £26 with no deposit or rental although they might have gone up since I got my last one. Also they weren’t taking on any new business just doing exchange due to the shortage of cylinders, although I am not sure if this is still the case.

    Gas Woes (CO2)

Moral is always have a spare cylinder. Mine will run out in the next few days but I have a spare to cover me as I am sure I might have trouble getting a replacement over Christmas and the Covid issues (saying that I will try to get an exchange next week)

    Covid - Plan B & Omicron

Our local council has been charging volunteers administering the vaccine over £9 a day to park near the vaccination centre that is located in the centre of town.

    Mossic and simcoe

I brewed a single hop beer with Mosaic earlier in the year. It is the only beer I have ever thrown away. Can't really describe the taste but it was very unpleasant.

    Tesco's beer choice

I am sorry to hear that you have been put off brewing an IS by your experience with the commercial beers. Some of these breweries try way too hard to be hip (why would you add banana to an IS, it has more than enough flavour to stand on its own). I recently brewed an IS from an American recipe...

How many more brews will you make in 2021

Looking at brewing a Callista SHIPA on Friday. Will be first time using T45 hop pellets so hope I have the quantities correct 🤞

Hello! I'm new here and will need help!

Glad you like it. acheers. You can use the base malt recipes to create something new with different hops. Although some brewing software is handy here to get the IBUs correct.

Hello! I'm new here and will need help!

The Greg Hughes Home Bew Beer and CAMRA Brew Your Own British Real Ale books have lots of recipes and other information on brewing. Either or both are a worthwhile investment. For ingredients it may be worth while going round the online homebrew shops to see what the postage charges are as it...

    October Competition- Dark Beers

Many thanks for the feedback and the best of luck with your wedding acheers. :groupdancing: Anyway I thought I would post the feedback and recipe for my Bourbon Aged Stout as it is a good user-up of old dark malt that we all have kicking around. This is a hefty stout and should ideally be...

    Benzaldehyde

I am aware that people rubbish hot side aeriation but both myself and a friend had a similar problem. When we compared notes it turned out we had both changed our process slightly in one particular area. My friend was using one of the drill whisks to create a whirlpool after the boil before...

Chopps Scales Up... Four Priests Brewery

Good luck with your venture. Went to a meet the brewer evening on Saturday for the Bucklebury Brewery. They only started earlier in the year and supply a cask to a local pub, and now out local micro pub where the event was held, and bottles to local community and farm shops. They have a 100...

    Carbonation issues

I suspect the beer may now be over carbonated. This will cause the absorbed CO2 to come out of solution and cause the foaming, hence the flat beer in the glass. Take note of Cheshire Cat's point 1 and 3 and see if there is any improvement. You could also ensure your glass is cold before pouring.

    co2 leak via regulator?

You may well have a very small leak from somewhere in the gas system (I am assuming here that the beer was carbonated before you switched the gas off). If you disconnect the keg and then pressure the system and turn off at the cylinder you should see a drop in the regulator gauges over time if...

    Where did I go wrong?

I notice it had a high proportion of flaked wheat and am wondering if this contributed to an inefficient sparge.

    Another keg question regarding co2

I always turn the gas off at the cylinder when not in use as even a small leak will potentially empty the cylinder. When carbonating or serving I will just turn the gas on to get the required headspace psi. For carbonating this may be a few times a day to start and serving is as pressure drops...

    Recipe check please!

I put your recipe into Beersmith, albeit with one of my equipment profiles so it wont be spot on, and I reckon you can lower the Special b to 150g and make up with pale malt. This came out in the middle of the colour range for an amber ale. One thing that did look wrong are the IBUs. These came...
