Ok cheers. I’ve no idea what the bicarbonate is then as it’s not listed anywhere. God knows what my mash ph will be!

    Dry residue at 180c?

Needs some help chaps Is this the same as bicarbonate? Mixing some tescos Irish spring water with my tap water for a red rye ale tomorrow and thats on the label. First time I’ve come across it. Google and a search here hasn’t shone much light in it?

Can you recommend me a small grain mill for biab 10l brews

If you are just getting in to all grain I’d say there are other areas to focus on first. a lot of experienced brewers still but pre crush. So there are no issues with it. I’ve been brewing 5 years without one. That said I do have my eye on the grainfather mill

CBC/Meantime/The Malt Miller British IPA Competition

I think lots it’s worth taking the offer and brewing it but then unless you think you have nailed it and got a chance of a top three spot I can’t se the point of sending it in given the costs and the fact you will get no feedback. And even if you are really happy with your brew and send it in...

    Cryo Hops from CrossMyLoof

Didn’t know that, thought it was competing brands so not so bad then. I was looking at this last night and trying to put a spreadsheet together ( sad git I know!) for the hops for my next lot of brews and wondered why those were so expensive. Still don’t look great value in comparison and also...

    Favourite dried lager yeast?

NB, what would you say the best fry yeast would be in your opinion for a viena lager brewed under pressure at 18c or via traditional means at low temps?

    Favourite dried lager yeast?

How about pressure fermenting? Any yeasts better for this or again doesn’t it matter so much? I was going to wait until I had much colder ground water to try my first lager and was thinking liquid but now I might make it my next brew and do it under pressure. Thinking diamond @ 15 psi for a...

    Favourite dried lager yeast?

Does it matter which type of lager? Which yeast would be best for a Vienna lager and which a Pilsner? Or doesn’t it mater?

    Vienna trip

Looking for recommendations of decent Places to get a beer in Vienna. Plus. Also watch the World Cup. This is a twice rearranged pre COVID trip that will now clash with the world cup quarter finals. To complicate things a bit further the couple we are going with are not big fans of beer or...

    Malt Suggestions ( from maltmiller)

That was my original thinking. Work out what malts I prefer then buy in bulk and mill at home, but have since found that pre crushed grain lasts 4 or 5 mo at the very least and assuming that the retailers mill will be much better than a home one I’m not sure if the benefits are worth the...

    Malt Suggestions ( from maltmiller)

I do like weyerman pale and use it often but maybe not enough to pay double! It’s cheaper on gerterbrewed (43) but still pricy.
