Dry hop port on Apollo snub nose

How do people use this? The first time I used a cut of water bottle as a funnel but too big and lost a quite few outside the FV The second time i used an actual funnel but it kept clogging up. In fact it took so long I think I would have had less oxygen ingress just taking the lid and...

    Completed AG Recipe Kits-GEB/MM

How did this turn out? Was looking at this myself but was going to maybe scale it down to 5.5%. Either that or maybe go for a less strong alternative like Level up red ale or Yakima red clone anyone tried any of these from MM Akis fancy a go at the siren soundwave

    'Greeny' hop taste

You should try Lupomax hops. You only need just over half the amount so less vegetable matter.

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Had a couple of this last night. on the smooth side but Very nice! i also had a couple of the orange pale ales. i used to love those, but they sort of went dodgy about 6 months ago. Lots of gushers and a few tasting cidery. So have been giving them a swerve. I saw they actually moved them to...

    Starter or no starter

Yes, I think the logic is the smack crack creates a small vitality starter. ( as opposed to increasing head count) Not sure how effective though

    Starter or no starter

Some of that might be compensated by the vitality element maybe?

    Starter or no starter

Brewers fiend calculator estimated i am well short, which made me think twice.

    Starter or no starter

I’ve tended recently to always use a start per when using liquid yeast but as I’m out of dry malt and short on time I’d not this time. it wyeast ESB, best before 6 June and the wort will only be 1046. I figure it il be fine. sure, aren't the smack packs sort of vitality starters anyway? But...

    Victory malt

Will probably go for biscuit first and see if I’m happy with it!

    Victory malt

Agreed but I’m thinking victory might provide the nuttiness I’m after that maybe biscuit won’t?

    Victory malt

This is interesting though, especially, as most of their experimemts find no difference, This one did https://brulosophy.com/2021/05/24/grain-comparison-biscuit-malt-vs-victory-malt-in-an-american-blonde-ale-exbeeriment-results/

    Victory malt

Cheers, think I saw that but hadn’t have heared of them before. Anyone used them? I also wondered why none of the main ones carried it As It would be easier to add it to a big order, As the agent says maybe biscuit is near enough same thing

    Victory malt

None of my regular go to suppliers seem to stock it. I know it’s a briess product and probably just their version of a uk/continental malt like biscuit or aromatic but from reading around there does seem to be a certain uniqueness with it in terms of contributing a nuttiness. Can anyone...

    National Homebrew Competition

One thing I noticed on my scores is the judges noted they couldn’t drink a pint of it which is quite harsh given it’s in the low 30s. Personally with that beer i feel it’s after the second or third pint it really shines!😁

    National Homebrew Competition

Same here, lowest scorer was IPA but had very little feedback Other than not bitter enough whereas my highest scorer american amber ale ( maybe should have been red ipa ) had lots of useful feedback.
