Cheap cider like beverage, is it likely to work?

20% abv wash flavoured and drank as is without distilling? Woah I feel bad for your head! That's going to be full of some nasty byproducts. Acetaldehyde, Methanol, Acetone, Fossil Fuels ect all produce in much higher quantities when you go over 15% Usually this wouldn't matter with the spirit...

Supermarket juice red wine WOW without grape concentrate

The citric acid gets added right at the start along with the sugar, yeast and nutrient. The citric acid corrects the PH. Yeast needs the correct PH to complete fermentation. The wine will need a good few months to age to tame the acidity down and mellow out. I've made this recipe a few times...

Supermarket juice red wine WOW without grape concentrate

I added the rest of the grape skins just before adding the finnings. Providing you add the grape skin powder to the wine before using finnings then you should be fine. The grape skin extract leaves some sediment behind hence it shouldn't be added after you clear the wine. I degassed the wine...

Supermarket juice red wine WOW without grape concentrate

Hi, you can upscale and downscale this recipe however you like. It will work exactly the same. Definitely you can half this recipe and it will work fine in your demi John's. I add the glycerine right at the end just before bottling.

Mojito Wine 6 bottle recipe fermented dry in 4 days!

This isn't really relevant @Chippy_Tea I didn't state that you will achieve a clear wine by adding finnings without degassing. I stated that finnings will remove around 90% of the sediment and they will. They just won't remove 100% of the sediment hence the finished drink won't be clear. It...

Mojito Wine 6 bottle recipe fermented dry in 4 days!

A and B finnings work pretty well without degassing. Should drop out at least 90% of the sediment without degassing. Degassing is only really necessary to remove the last 10% of sediment. I've done extensive tests on this when making hard Seltzer's. (Sugar wash with flavourings). When...

Methods for removing the metal shoulder from screw cap wine bottles?

Well my 5 x Winexpert reserve cabernet merlot kits are soon about to finish. And I'll need in total 150 wine bottles. I'm going with nova twist screw caps for bottling them. These caps are supposed to be suitable for long term aging of wine. I've removing the metal shoulders from over 100...

Mojito Wine 6 bottle recipe fermented dry in 4 days!

Awesome! I love to see experimentation and Its brilliant that someone else is trying to make variations to my recipe. Keep me updated and if it goes well I'll be sure to give it a try myself! Just an idea, but you could add finnings without degassing, stabilizer then bottle a day or two later...

Mojito Wine 6 bottle recipe fermented dry in 4 days!

Exactly put here. The champagne yeast ensures a quick and complete fermentation to complete dryness. Honestly I would either go with degassing and bottling still or not degassing/stabilizing, adding 6-8g of sugar per litre and bottle carbonating. Not degassing without bottle carbonating...

Mojito Wine 6 bottle recipe fermented dry in 4 days!

Awesome give us some updates along the way. Always nice to see the results! Using champagne yeast as said by @Swedhearth won't give you a sparkling wine. BUT you can make the wine sparkling if you choose to do so The reason champagne yeast is used in this brew is because it ferments out...

Mojito Wine 6 bottle recipe fermented dry in 4 days!

Hi Gaz 3-4 litres of hot water to dissolve the sugar at the begining. It doesn't really matter how much you use. The sugar will dissolve either way. The hot water just means you don't have to mix as much. Yes I topped it up to one gallon then added the yeast I removed the limes right at the...

Mojito Wine 6 bottle recipe fermented dry in 4 days!

Most definitely if you like a mojito. We drank it all up super quick. Tastes just like a mojito. We served it in a high ball glass with mint leaves, and ice. And it tasted just like a mojito!! Makes a great cider if you lower the abv to about 7% and bottle carbonate.

    My tea wine recipes

Be careful with the chewing gum. That will be a magnet for bacteria/mold growth after about a week. Could be an issue on longer fermentations! I'd be spraying it a few times a week with 80% NGS or failing that vodka.

    My tea wine recipes

Make sure you're using a classic wood drill bit and make sure the drill is NOT on hammer or masonry modes ect. Take it slow. The plastic sounds brittle as none of mine cracked. In this case try using a tiny drill bit, a bit bigger one followed by a bit bigger one. They shouldn't crack if you do...

    My tea wine recipes

Drill the holes with a drill bit slightly smaller than the airlock. I wrapped 2 layers of PTFE tape around the base of the airlock then forced it into the hole. Works 100% of the time. Not that you really need it though. Fermentation is antimicrobial in its self. Depending on how much time...

Need some advice on mini (easy) keg bungs and party star deluxe tap?

Thanks Tom! Upon checking the link they look like the single bung gray ones which are just one straight plug which goes in the top? If they're the gray ones I don't think they would be compatible as the gray ones have no hole in the middle. Not totally sure though as not much description on the...

Need some advice on mini (easy) keg bungs and party star deluxe tap?

Picked up a party star deluxe tap on eBay couldnt resist for £27! These fit the 5lt easy kegs. I have some mini kegs and want to replace the bungs on them as the ones I have are not reusable. What bungs can I buy which will be compatible with the party star deluxe tap? I seen these on eBay...
