    Batch size

I can just about do a 23 L batch of low ABV bitter in my Klarstein, but these are exactly the kind of beers I like to keg, so it’s kind of pointless.

    Batch size

I’m fairly standard in my batch sizes smallest 4.5L largest 23L these days I mostly do either 9.5 or 19L as it fits nicely into the kegs I have.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

For me it’s incredibly nostalgic I can remember the big brown bottles when I was on holiday in Greece with my parents as a kid (and getting to take them back for the deposit to spend on more appropriate for children beverages). And speaking of Greece I am having a glass of Metaxa.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

It’s surprisingly warm so decided to take a break from my walk with a pint of Amstel. While a fairly bog standard larger on a warm day it’s just right.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

I find the opposite problem lots of lovely 6-7% IPA’s but very few good sub 3.5% Milds or Bitters which surprises me as with the way alcohol duty on beer is now structured you would think there would be a lot more sub 3.4% beers, also who exactly is brewing 22% beers as surprised they feel the...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Luckily for me the pub in question is just opposite the station in my home town has Abbot as one of their standard beers so I tend to pop in now and then on my way back from work (I’ve tried Abbot out of a bottle and can and it’s just not the same). Honestly makes me wonder if something like...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

I know I’m supposed to make snide comments about the evils of Greene King, but honestly I actually quite like their beer when it’s served on cask from a pub that knows what it’s doing. Though despite the glass it’s Abbot Ale not the Greene King IPA.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

A pint of Guinness and a pack of salt and vinegar just because I feel like it cheers.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

A bottle of my Dark Mild, o think this has become a tad over carbonated and a little dryer than I would prefer (which let’s be honest are proably linked) still perfectly pleasant to drink.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Left the office a couple of minutes too late to make the 15:07 so decided to wait in a Weatherspoons rather than a station platform for half an hour, Black Adder Stout, not the best beer in the world but it was £2.49 so cant really complain.

    What did you brew today?

I haven’t used Mosaic for a few years but would agree that it makes a really good SMASH. As for me I brewed a 23L batch of ‘CML Tropical England Grain Kit’, this used a rather nice blend of the ‘modern’ US like British hops Jester, Olicana, Godiva, Mystic, Archer & Harlequi, which ai will be...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Now I’m feeling paranoid is the pub across from the station paying kickbacks to the train companies to break the air conditioning on hot days. Could have being worse a few years back they couldn’t turn the heating off (in August) not fun.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

I know it’s a beer made by a macro brewer, and their are many many stouts that are arguably better, but sometimes I have a craving that other Stouts can meet.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Surprisingly good session IPA from Greene King (4%) may be due to being a ice cold beer I’m having it just after getting off a train with broken down air conditioning but I’m honestly impressed.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Haven’t had this in years but saw it on Amazon basically a ‘Greek Brandy’ (in the sense that it is distilled wine) which is perhaps a tad unfair as it’s very much a drink in its own right. It’s very smooth hints of raisins and orange just very pleasant.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

As you would expect on a bank holiday the weather outside is frightful so settling down with a glass if Jura.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

A bottle of my own dark mild, think I have a tad too much crystal as it’s a tad sweeter than I prefer but very drinkable non the less.
