Fermzilla All Rounder - £49:50 at Get Er Brewed

Oh cool - what's your method with it? Don't tempt me... It's Christmas and my partner will kill me hahahaha :P

Fermzilla All Rounder - £49:50 at Get Er Brewed

So - I thought I'd share my experiences after 5 or 6 fermentations with this bad boy! I've found the best results come from letting ales start fermentation with no pressure, setting the spunding valve to 10 psi for a day or so after fermentation starts, and then ramping up to 20 to 25 psi...

    Raid on illegal Bolton distillery

Interesting indeed, David! I recently watched "Searching for Sugar Man" - so good! If anyone on here hasn't watched it, I'd highly recommend it. An insane true story about an artist called Rodriguez from Detroit!

    Joe's Brewday

So... I didn't do a very good job at keeping this updated throughout the year. As a general update, I've done around 20 brews - all to varying degrees of success! I'm still working out the process perfectly, but it's been fun learning about water chemistry, yeast, beer styles etc. I brewed a...

    NEIPA - Chalky Aftertaste?

Thanks! I called Yorkshire Water - they've said they are going to send me an up to date water report. They also mentioned they have reports that are especially helpful to brewers, so they are going to send it through when they can. Guess it's a case of "you don't ask, you don't get"!

    NEIPA - Chalky Aftertaste?

The chalky taste isn't showing any signs of fading, unfortunately! I fear this may be a spoiled batch (though I will probably still drink it - it's still nicer than most supermarket lagers haha). I am now focused on diagnosing the issue and preventing it from happening in future brews. I have...

    NEIPA - Chalky Aftertaste?

Based on the feedback, it sounds like it's either early beer problems, or I've messed up the water chemistry. Really hoping it's the former! If it's the latter, I know I need to retest my water as something has obviously changed since I did it last. I have done NEIPA's to good effect with only...

    NEIPA - Chalky Aftertaste?

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Will keep ya posted! I have noticed Kveik (notice the correct spelling hehe) doesn't seem to flocculate/drop out of suspension as quickly as other yeasts I've used, so it could definitely be that! I've just never noticed the taste as much as with this one! I...

    NEIPA - Chalky Aftertaste?

Hey guys, I've recently brewed a NEIPA using the Fermzilla All-Rounder for closed transfers and the like! I kegged it yesterday and pulled the first one, and there's a distinctive chalky aftertaste behind the hoppiness that isn't particularly pleasant (it's drinkable, but I've never tasted this...

Fermzilla All Rounder - £49:50 at Get Er Brewed

Thanks! That makes sense! That's so good! Really can't wait to give it a try. I have the last few bits due from AliExpress this week and I plan to upgrade from bulbs to a SodaStream bottle too, so need to pick one up from somewhere.

Fermzilla All Rounder - £49:50 at Get Er Brewed

Yeah, I've seen this calculator - it's the Dr. Hans one isn't it? I don't particularly understand it, so maybe someone can explain as I might be misunderstanding completely! I thought carbonation occurs over a length of time of being put under CO2 pressure? The calculator doesn't mention time...

Fermzilla All Rounder - £49:50 at Get Er Brewed

Nice one! I'll try the 10 psi method. Do you put the pressure on straight away or do you let it naturally get to that pressure? I'm very keen to try an Indian Pale Lager vibe after I do this first Cascade Pale Ale!
