    Is capitalism exploiting you?

In my case, at least part of this is due to my mild autism.

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

    Yes, just look it up.

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

After giving a speech on a college campus, and during the question and answer period, a female student approached the microphone and asked Ayn Rand: "But who will care for the poor?". Ayn Rand calmly responded: "My dear, no one is stopping you.". The girl walked away despondent.

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

I can now expand upon my post #31 to this thread involving the honesty of money: Money itself is not wealth. Money is merely a portable and transferable and highly freely/universally accepted "proxy" for wealth. Wealth must first be expended commensurate with the 'price' of the proxy whereby...

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

My brief paraphrase of Adam Smith: Capitalism clearly does not exist to the benefit of the common good. In fact it exists solely to the benefit of individual self interest. But in a world where everyone is FULLY FREE to pursue their own desires for rational self interest (yes, what we commonly...

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

To my knowledge, Ayn Rand never personally killed, had people killed by others, or openly advocated the killing of anyone (sans perhaps in consequence of self defense). Check the histories of those who have, and see where they generally align themselves along the political spectrum. PS: I...

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

It might not be as huge if you checked your premises.

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

@darlacat, you may have just invited yourself to become a prime example of what I described within paragraph #3 of my post #21 to this thread. You seem to now have checked all of the boxes.

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

Specifically how do you expect not working to alleviate the suffering of mankind?

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

Ah, but it was you who dissed the voluntary aspect of labor, not me. And thus you completely missed the fact that I directly addressed the aspect of force.

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

You have not addressed the aspect of force.

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

So I take it that either you did not watch the videos, or that in your dream of a utopia for mankind (as derived specifically and directly from your superior education in history as implied from your response) you reject their outcome. Perhaps due to your PhD in History you will be one of those...

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

In order to abolish capitalism, all would be forcibly required to sacrifice greatly for some ideal such as the "common good" or the "greater good". But do consider that wherever there is compelled sacrifice, there is inevitably someone or some organization collecting the requisite sacrificial...

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

I offer this in reply to post #32. Please listen to all three parts:

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

There is simply no means whereby to practice honest capitalism (or for that matter, honest anything) when money itself is so dishonest as to be fabricated at will from thin air by so-called central banks. Only money that has it's value correlated directly to the labor required to bring it into...

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

Taking flak is never popular, but (as has been staited many times and in many ways): "If you're not taking flak, you're not over the target.".

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

An employee with marketable skills will not apply for a job at McDonald's unless there is no current market demand for said skills. One moral of this story is to pursue the acquisition of viably marketable skills. Another moral of this story is: Don't pursue a degree in some obscurely...

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

I suggest reading 'Atlas Shrugged'. Abjectly boring for roughly the first third of its ~1,000 pages, but absolutely riviting and enlightening for the final two thirds. If read in its entirety it should give any inspiring socialist or Marxist a new perspective on capitalism. It took me a...

    Is capitalism exploiting you?

The capitalist is not forcing you to work for a given wage. You do that voluntarily. There is no theft or exploitation. The capitalist does not rob the bank accounts and/or property or life of employees when a business loss is suffered. If you don't work, you must parasitically exploit those...

    Brewer's Invert Sugar

Golden Syrup is way too expensive for general use by us Americans, and I don't believe I've ever seen it on the shelves of a common supermarket. I've only seen it at gouging prices in brewing supply shops. Invert sugar seems to be pretty much an unknown commodity here.
