    Hello and general brewing advice

Hi Bisonhead, have you thought about doing turbo cider? Just get pure apple juice from the supermarket and add cider or ale yeast.

    Better Brew Czech pilsner

After cold crashing for a couple of days in the garage, I bottled the brew this morning, I used 150g table sugar dissolved in 500ml water, added to bottling bucket and transferred the brew onto it giving 21 ltrs. The sample I took from FV whilst transfering tasted excellent. Obviously it was...

    Better Brew Czech pilsner

Hi, I checked gravity on mine on Saturday ,down to 1012, I decided to give it another week before bottling,it may drop a bit more, maybe not. Smelt really good, looked a little dark in the FV but this may have been due to the light.

Looks like I have to pour this away? :(

That's a shame, but definitely shouldn't be like that.. I've no idea what it is,or why it's occured though.

Looks like I have to pour this away? :(

Hi Patrick, it's hard to tell from the photo but is the mass at the bottom loose?, It's not just sediment stirred up from handling the bottles?

Pubs by me under new ownership - for the better

Our local ,which was very poorly managed but had a great bunch of regulars who used to get in there, never re opened after the first lockdown, it's now boarded up and looks like it's been abandoned. Were just hoping it re-opens as a pub again as rumours are rife it'll be turned into apartments.

    Frozen Blackberry wine

Hi all, After picking blackberries one afternoon last year I simply sealed them into bags and stuck them in the freezer. Yesterday I finally got around to using them to make some wine but am now wondering how this will turn out. I placed the frozen berries(2kg+100g of frozen blackcurrants) into...

    First brew underway

Is this the New Zealand pilsner? Think I put them in on day 12 and left them for 4 or 5 days but I've decided if I do this kit again I'd only use half the hops or maybe even less it's so hoppy.Ive never had a NZ pilsner so didn't realise they're that hop heavy.(or is it just this kit)?

    Filtering tap water

Hi, I always used to use a quarter crushed campden tab for 23 ltrs but then decided to try it without as our tap water tastes and smells fine.I haven't noticed any difference in the taste of the kits I do ,so I just use it straight from the tap know.

    Brewkits and spraymalt

Hi, as it's a 3kg all malt kit I'd brew it as it is and save the spraymalt for a cheaper single can/pouch kit . I use table sugar for priming with no problems. All the best with it and let us know how it turns out.athumb..
