    Batch size

I wasn‘t Initially going to sparge at all, but thought it’ll help a little with the efficiency, I generally like my beer low abv anyway so not that bothered so may just go full volume. The 30 minutes comes from research, as for a single hop, I read that all you need to do is up the hop Volume...

    Batch size

Can I jump in with a query as I’m about to do my first BIAB.....how much should you factor in for grain absorption? I read 1 litre per kilo of grain for loss in the mash somewhere. Is that a good assumption? I“m doing a small 9-10 litre batch so only going to use 2.2kg of grain, so was...

    Burco boiler modifications??

I’m just about to buy one of these after days of consideration and costing out my BIAB options! Do you have more info or pics on the bypass mod? Also, for BIAB do I really need to change the tap? I’m thinking no chill method, once at temp, pour out of tap into FV to aerate wart? Thanks R

Cooper's Stout Vs Wilko Velvet Stout

I just kegged my Cooper’s Irish Stout, 22 litres in FV with Coopers Brew Enhancer 3, 10 days @ 22 degrees and then a 4 day cold crash. I force carb’d the last couple of litres in a pop bottle for 10 minutes at 30psi.....poured like a Guinness and tastes like a Guinness! I call that a...

    Induction Hobs

That looks like fairly good value.....too many choices. Looks like I’m wanting to do similar, or even smaller batches than you. I was thinking along the lines of 25-30 litre pot and induction hob. The pots all tend to be 32cm diameter which is way over the spec of most induction bobs. That...

    Induction Hobs

    Half fill a cornie?

Hi, I’m putting on a coopers craft kit soon which comes out at about 9 ish litres. if I keg it in one of my 19 litre cornies is there anything I need to consider compared to filling full as I normally do? I guess I’ll need to purge more to clear air, but will the 10 litres of head space cause...

    Willamette dry hop in Stout?

Think I’m gonna leave it.....I’ve done it a few times before and it’s lovely as is so not gonna risk it! Thanks for advice

    Willamette dry hop in Stout?

I’ve got a Coopers Irish Stout brewed short to 21l just about finished fermenting, it is tasting lovely out of today’s test jar but wondering if I should dry hop? I’ve got about 50g of Willamette pellets I can use left from my last amber ale, but should I? I read they will work well in a stout...

    DIY adapter for pressurising kegs.....

I made the attached today.....very happy with it and really easy. all I used was a barbed gas disconnect, an 11mm hose clamp and a rubber tyre valve extender off eBay. Total cost around £7.

    Cornie keg maintenance schedule?

I’m interested in how often folk service their kegs? I’ve never done my recon kegs with about 6 brews each and never had any problems. Ok I‘ve replaced a leaking lid seal but thats it. I also just brush clean and rinse out a few times with hot water after each brew, pop in couple of litres of...

    DIY adapter for pressurising kegs.....

Hi, I’m looking for advice and ideas as I’ve been Googling all night and my head hurts! The background is that I use corny kegs with ball locks and have loads of spare fittings and bits, use beer gas, but also have S30 valves in the kegs for parties and to make it easier to pressurise for...

Cooper's Stout Vs Wilko Velvet Stout

Thanks for sharing, stout is my next brew now I’ve got my mixed gas setup sorted and a stout nozzle (works great on my current Wherry). Ive bottled coopers Irish stout in the past and had great results, was gonna do the wilko but will skip that now 😆! My question is was it the standard...

    Suremix 60

It wasn’t sold to me, borrowed until I’ve run out the gas.....which will be almost never considering the size of it! (I know it has a life span before anyone says..late 2020 on this one) Looking at my options, a N2 regulator costs about £50 or a CO2 about £30 and then I’d need an adapter so...

    Suremix 60

looking for advice.... I have been using cornies for a while with s30 co2 and recently got a large fresh BOC Suremix 60 cylinder from a restaurant that was closing down. I understand it’s a 60% co2 and 40% N2 mix. Can anyone advise on how to use this and what I need in terms of a regulator to...

    Festival steam beer

An update! It’s pretty much cleared now, well as much as I reckon it’s going too. It’s turned out to be a fantastic beer, not so much steam beer but hoppy IPA. Reminds me of some of the Brewdogs I’ve tried. If IPA and hoppy are you’re thing give this one a go, you won’t be disappointed

    Festival steam beer

It was the festival kit, so dry hop for final week in the secondary. Its cloudy almost like a wheat beer, I suspect maybe hop particles although I used a miuslin bag and was careful when kegging. In retrospect I should have cleared it with gelatine......I presume I’m too late for that now...

    Festival steam beer

I kegged a steam beer In a corny about 3 weeks ago after 2 weeks primary and 3 weeks secondary. It doesn’t seem to clearing, taste great though! Any ideas on how long it’ll take to clear? Thanks

    Bulldog raja's reward IPA

I just wanted to post an update on this after finishing my las 4 bottles last night. I brewed it per instructions about 8 months ago, and it is fantastic! It has improved month by month, but I so wish I had done 2 at the time! If like your ipa to be light and hoppy but not too much on the...
