    Glasgow CO2

Hi, Who are folk using in Glasgow for CO2? I’m setting up a kegerator for my brother. I use Lothian gas supplies in Livingston who are great, but looking for somewhere similar in Glasgow. I tried Sig who are hobby brew suppliers but they are crazy expensive! Ideally it would be a 3kg...

    Large (double batch) Fermentation Vessels?

Hi, I have just purchased a G40 and although I’ll mainly stick with 19l batches I’m going want to go bigger to supply my brothers who have got a thirst for my homebrew! Currently I use 30l FV’s in my converted fermentation fridge, but for double 40l batches (and 30l batches) I’m looking for n...

Can anyone recommend me a stout/porter recipe

I’m drinking this just now I’ve made a few stouts and this is the best one so far, It’s brilliant….100% recommended and now on my ‘house‘ beer list! I’ve also got grains in for 10l batches of GH‘s Oatmeal Stout and Ace of Spades Porter as I’ve heard great things about them too….I just need...

Small batch in a Burco/Cygnet boiler

I usually just run the whole lot into the FV 🙄….I guess it’s just a case of giving it a bash….not a lot to loose really as its such a small batch!

Small batch in a Burco/Cygnet boiler

Hi, I’ve got a 30l Cygnet boiler I use for BIAB, the smallest batch I currently do is 10l. I’m thinking about doing some 5l batches for experimenting, does anyone do that in this size of boiler? Other than the Temp likely cooling quickly when mashing and a high boil off rate anything else I...

    Brewstore closing

I see that Edinburgh Brewstore are closing. I used their recipe service a lot and it was handy for collection. Are there any other local options? (please move if this is the wrong forum)

    Splitting a Kit?

Try the Coopers Mr Beer craft Kits. They are under a tenner and do 8.5l (or 10l as i do them) and very good 1 can no addition kits.

    Muntons Flagship Hazy IPA

My goodness! This has to the best kit beer I’ve ever done even though it’s not my usual style. It’s exactly like the trendy cans of hazy that cost £2 for a little can in the shops! Fruity, hoppy, full flavoured, great creamy lasting head, not too strong or bitter and smells amazing! Worth...

    Leaving StarSan/ChemSan in a corny?

Thanks, that’s a brilliant interview, long but very informative. It pretty much verified my understanding of starsan. Starsan interview

    Leaving StarSan/ChemSan in a corny?

Something I have learned the hard way…don’t spill starsan on a kitchen worktop as it etches if you don’t wash it immediately as it’s very caustic when undiluted!

    Leaving StarSan/ChemSan in a corny?

For what it’s worth, I usually clean out keg with water, and a brush, maybe some sodium per-carbonate if it looks dirty, rinse well and then fill with a litre or so of starsan and pressurise with a standard air compressor. Shake, leave for 10 minutes shake and then pour out via a post top tap...

    Muntons Flagship Hazy IPA

Has anyone got a note of their OG and FG for this kit? I started at 1043 and now at 1008 which is about 4.6% (not put in 2nd batch of hops yet) so was wondering if it‘ll drop further? Thanks

1 can kit with no additions to make low abv beer?

Update on this one…went for can and 250g of dextrose brewed short to 20l. Came out really nice, like a lightly hopped pale ale. Very seshionable, got great reviews from mates (could have just been because it was free right enough!) and didn’t last long! Took it to a BBQ and between 7 of us...

One can kit, half brew length

The new muntons flagship hazy ipa definitely has different contents in each tin, so maybe others have too. It says so on the instructions and they look/smell quite different when you open them.

One can kit, half brew length

Coopers do a 8.5l craft brew kit that ive found to be pretty good. Basically a premium one can kit for under a tenner.
