    FTTP discount

About to get connected with BeFibre, will be £29 month for 720Mbps and the first 6 months half price. They've put in their own infrastructure around the area so not BT/Openreach. Guess BT are having to realign their prices to what other providers are offering.

Short trip to Brussels - recommendations please!

Cantillon brewery 😍 (So long as you like Lambic / sour beers.) Went on my birthday many years ago before we had children. Amazing weekend.

    A word on gas…

If your smallest cylinder is 13kg then you have nothing to worry about. It's the ~4kg Propane or Butane cylinders and a few other small ones that they are stopping. As a camper / caravanner I know this might affect some though most of us use 6kg propane cylinders anyway. The main loss to me...

Rumour? is Wilko's going into administration?

I fear it's only a matter of time. They compete in what is an already crowded market with the likes of B&M, Home Bargains, and The Range doing a lot of similar stuff and they don't seem to do it as well as them. The opened a brand new one in Worcester a few years back, on the high street which...

    Pensions

As someone in their 50s this is pretty frustrating, seems like I work hard and pay a lot of tax and NI into the system but any rewards I might have expected as a result of doing that are being quietly eroded (e.g. child benefit got means tested not long after I had kids). I don't want to work...

    PET Bottle pressure

Two issues that I can see. Firstly those sorts of bottles are not designed to contain pressure so up to you if you take that risk or not. Secondly they don't recommend that you refill those sorts of bottles as chemicals (BPA) can start leaching out of the plastic. PET bottles are more stable...

What have you been smoking on bbq?

Failed to take any pictures but did Ox Cheeks for the first time on the Kamado this weekend. Very cheap cut of meat from Morisons, only a few £ each, did one per head. Dry brined the night before, rubbed with garlic powder and black pepper, on the Kamado at 135°C with a chunk of oak for 3...

    Nukatap with Pet Bottles

Great idea, even more tempted to get one of these now!

Two more new kits from Mangrove Jacks

Thread bump has prompted me to say that I've been drinking the spiced dubbel over the Xmas break. Really nice, hint of spiciness but not overpowering. Still got quite a bit left as I've been drinking it from a 250ml Leffe glass due to it being at the stronger end of homebrew.

    Evri.....

Over the last week or so I've gone from being fine about them to never using them again. I've used them quite a few times to send stuff I've sold on eBay and it's always got to where it needs to go. I've also never had a problem with them delivering parcels to my home, the local guy is...

    Airless tyres.

I thought these open ones were just to demonstrate the concept and that the actual production tyres will have normal side walls hiding the internal gubbins mainly for several of the reasons already mentioned.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle documentary flop.

Problem with it is that I think the majority of people in this country really don't give a sh*t about them let alone feel the need to watch some documentary about their oh so difficult but privileged lives when the rest of us are struggling to pay the gas bill. 😁

    Airless tyres.

I had a bit of a love hate relationship with the run flats on my BMW. I liked them as you knew if you got a puncture and it was late at night, pissing down with rain, etc. you could just carry on home albeit slowly. Also unbeknownst to me one of my front tyres had worn down on the inside edge...

What food would you never eat

There's very little I won't eat and I will give anything a go at least once. Even the stuff I don't like that much I'll still eat and actually someone mentioned beetroot that I used to hate in my younger days but will happily eat it now, even the stuff in vinegar which is probably what put me...

    Beer 52

I used a similar tactic on Virgin Wines years ago, just told them I'd had to stop drinking for medical reasons, no questions asked after that 🙂

    Looking for keg advice please

For me switching to Corny kegs is one decision I will never regret. I only brew kits too, more on that in a minute. However to do it properly it's quite an investment as well as the kegs themselves, pipework, taps etc. two things you really need is something to chill them in (i.e. a fridge)...

    Beerworks Imp Stout

I had considered making one of these but it doesn't sound so good now. Never really made any kits above about 7% ABV, mostly as there aren't many, wonder if trying to make something high alcohol just from malt extract is not going to work well. I'm think of that thing we don't talk about on...

    Corny post threads stripped

On one of mine the post was so tight that not much was shifting it. I resorted to the impact driver which quickly sorted it (great tool). Thread was ok though. They don't need to be that tight when you put them back on. In a previous life the keg would have been full of fizzy drink (coke...

    Stupid question need stupid answers.

Not sure I understand, regulators are normally on the gas side. The gas pipes only need to be long enough to supply gas from the cylinder to the keg. The long length of narrow tube goes on the liquid side between the keg and the tap. No regulators there.
