    ISP

BeFibre - Full fibre broadband, 720Mbps download and upload, paying £29 month and had the first 6 months half price. 24 month contract, I can't remember if those prices are fixed for the contract period or not.

    Kegs, "kegs" and other 'kegs'

Hey distributors, home brew shops, etc. if you're listening! Please bring a few pallets of these into the UK. 🙂 I'll take at least half a dozen off your hands, maybe more over time.

    Freeview/Freesat?

Interesting, thanks for the info. Here's hoping there will be a supporting Android TV app with a record to local storage capability. This would be perfect. One can dream 😁

    Freeview/Freesat?

I have a Humax Aura and have owned it for at least a year, possibly more. It's ok. Early days it did seem quite buggy and would often reboot itself, it does seem much better now but still not perfect. Main gripes at the moment: ITVX often freezes and then causes the box to reboot. Only...

    Kegs, "kegs" and other 'kegs'

Unfortunately they don't do the 3L pop bottles anymore. However they do sell Blackthorn cider in 3L brown PET bottles. I got a couple before Christmas as I was going to use them to make fizzy water for my kids with the Kegland carb cap, T-piece, a picnic tap and so on. I just need to drink...

    5G

Whilst there is now nothing plugged into my landline and it's not in service I did recently have fibre installed. My ISP offers speeds up to 900Mbps though in theory fibre can carry a lot more data than that. I can't remember if we have 5G coverage at home but the signal inside the house is...

    What's for breakfast?

Shreddies with milk on a weekday, well the supermarket own brand version anyway. Occasionally porridge (Readybrek / instant oats type and I can't be doing with the faff of real porridge) or sometimes toast. Weekends it varies but tend to have something a bit more substantial, skip lunch and...

    Kit recommendations please!

I know people do tweak the more budget end of the beer kit range with a lot of success but I find I get more consistency from the more premium kits and without changing anything. The Festival Kits are generally excellent, I also like the Woodforde's kits, Mangrove Jacks but always using a malt...

I have a drinking issue and need some assitance.

I've been using 19L kegs for ages, I have 6 of them on rotation when I haven't been lazy on the brewing front. The beer has always been fine, some even get better with age but I do try to keep a shorter turnaround on anything hoppy as the taste and aroma does diminish a bit over time, but still...

    Beer in demi-johns

Yes, use a trial jar (Link) and a turkey baster. Suck out enough to nearly fill the jar, add hydrometer, take reading. It's then your choice as to whether to drink the sample, throw it away or chuck it back in. I'm not one for wasting beer so I sanitise everything and put the sample back in...

    Fermenting in cold garage

I brew in an unheated garage. Brew fridge was one of the best things I ever made for many reasons. Got two now!

    Little Bottler

Although my bottling is usually only the difference between a 19L keg and the volume of whatever kit I've brewed I still wouldn't be without one of these. When kegging I fit it to the end of the siphon tube, fill the half dozen or so bottles I need then carefully detach it and siphon the rest...

    home brew and camping trips

Just bought a load of these bits from the Kegland Aliexpress store to do similar as well as providing fizzy water at home. Out of interest where did you those PET bottles and what size are they? I was planning on using 3L cider bottles from Iceland but they look better and possibly bigger.

Show us your rabbit, guinea pig, small mammal...

Cute bun. Could we widen the thread to show us you rodents? Here's my family's guinea pigs: Two boys, the dark brown one is Scampy, lighter one is Tiramisu. Also real characters, currently been moved indoors for the Winter and the little chancers have now taken to running around squeaking...

Swine flu: UK detects first human case of new strain -

Whilst it would never happen I'd relish another Christmas lockdown. Probably a different opinion to most but I actually enjoyed the lock downs. Christmas was an added bonus, no having to see the in-laws, no parties that I'm really not bothered about. Just the family sat at home in front of a...

    Top Gear shelved.

Must admit after Clarkson's sacking it did seem like they were flogging a dead horse for quite a while. However when Paddy, Freddie & Chris teamed up I heard rumours that it had improved so started watching it again. Thought it was pretty good really for a bit of light entertainment on a Sunday...

    Booths stores

Never heard of Booths until about 12 years ago when we went on a holiday to the Forest of Bowland. Got to the holiday cottage fairly late on in the day, we didn't have much by way of food with us so after settling in the wife and our then 9 month old boy, I headed out to do the food shop. The...

    Wheat beer bottling

I just pour most of it, then when down to the last few inches in the bottle give it a swill round and pour it in. Cloudy beer, job done.

Muntons West Coast IPA - progress and questions

I have made this, as with the majority of my beers it went into a keg, seem to remember it being a bit hazy at first but cleared more over time. But a bit of haziness in my beers never bothers me and with something like an IPA which you want to drink fairly fresh I definitely live with it. Due...

cleaning and storing PET bottles (soda pop bottles)

Just remember don't go too hot with the water as they start to melt. Then they lose the capability to withstand pressure. That said PET is pretty strong so most homebrew shouldn't stress it that much.
