Did you try the bazooka that came with the Mundschenk? Its hard to see if the ones on Ali are coarser so would be less likely to block up. A few vids on youtube seem to end up syphoning, so its clearly a common problem. I'm ordering a metal paddle and hop spider, so thinking about adding another...

Dunno if I'm being an *****.. But what's the white plastic elbow and cap for? Also, what's the purpose of the upper mesh plate? Does that just sit on top of the wort during the mash, and help distribute recirculated wort evenly during mash and sparge?

With regards the bazooka.. Do you just pass through a hop bag instead, or do you actually mean a sieve?

I just need to order my first all grain recipe kit, and empty a corny so there's space! 🤣

Silly question maybe, but can you use the pump to transfer to the fermentator, and not bother with the tap?

Fair point! Careful on the dimensions on the Brewmonk cover though - the Brewmonk is quite a bit smaller. The height prob isnt an issue for the cover, but the diameter is quite a bit different so the cover may well not fit on the Mundschenk 57.5cm x 35.0cm vs 70cm x 40cm

Is there much need for a cover, or are you thinking for storage?

I guess the cable tie keeps some tension in it too so it won't fully collapse into itself. Thanks for the help - I got the bits so will be having a go in the next few days. 👍

I'm too lazy, and just did an easy screwfix click and collect! 😁 Have you used any wire to space the coils? Not sure there's much point..

You almost beat me to it with that comment @Jiffy176 ! I'm looking at the bits now, and 10mm pipe is a tiny amount more than the 8mm... I assume the 10mm will be more effective/quicker due to the larger surface area - so I'll take your lead and go with that!

The pump approach may well work for me - I have a large waterbutt and a pond pump, so that would certainly save on the wasted water. I guess you could always also use the heated mains water for cleaning the kit after the brew.

Stupid question.. but how do you then use it? Do you just run cold from the tap and straight down the sink or into the flower bed, or do you collect the water and reuse it somehow? I assume its still 'clean'? What sort of flow rate do you aim for?

Any recommendations for a wort chiller? Although they look pricey, so I may attempt DIY!
