    Inside the Factory - Guinness

Animals will eat spend grains with roasted malts in them, I can personally testify to this as I used to feed my spent grains to pigs. I suspect the case is that as a product spent grains with no roasted malts have a higher monetary value as animal feed.

Brewers yeast as a health food supplement

I think we can agree that the debate is over - not drinking beer is fatal.

    Inside the Factory - Guinness

Isn't "key" a bit like "upto" in legal terms, aka meaningless? "This car is up to 10% efficient" (it isn't more efficient in normal use). "These are our four key ingredients (not including sheep's brains which aren't really key. We just bung them in)

Brewers yeast as a health food supplement

Vegemite has higher amounts of vitamins B1, B2, and B9, but less B3 than Marmite and no B12.

    Inside the Factory - Guinness

So Ive now watched the bit I missed. Interesting program. What struck me is what a marketing phenomenon Guinness is. Among some of its fans, its ye olde Guinness the authentic alternative to crap Marco lager ("It tastes so different in Ireland, dont you know"); but is in fact a huge macro...

Amigos, my fermenter stinks of Bleach after cleaning it... any suggestions ?

It will help in my experience, but perhaps leave it a bit longer than overnight.

    No rinse sanitizers

Interesting fact - I use percarbonate to clean, then Videne (Iodine based) no rinse to sanitise . If you don't rinse after the percarbonate, it "bleaches" the iodine color from the Videne instantly.

    Inside the Factory - Guinness

Ahh! That's what they do. I was watching the bit with the main mash, then had to leave the room to check something on the wife's car, and when I came back they were talking about hops, so I wondered how the blonde wort got black. I'll have to watch that bit on catchup.

    Imerssion chillers vs other types

(Warning Warning, controversial opinon coming up alert.... ) Thats because there are a while raft of small cask producers now who should have stuck to banking. (Ducks :D)

Yeast Experiment / Mosaic Pale Ale

Beoir is apparently "very similar to a Mauribrew yeast - Draught"

    Imerssion chillers vs other types

I use a immersion chiller, and it causes lots of what I assume is proteins that have been clumped by the protofloc to drop out. With an counterflow or plate chiller, does this not happen? If so, is protofloc a waste of time with these types of chillers?

    Klarstein fermenter - anybody using?

I have two, and think they are great. The bottom stand bits come off if they are a bit tall for your fermenting fridge. I'm going to be fitting thermowells to mine.

Brewing mistakes you really wish you'd avoided...

I think I may have told this tale before, but here goes. About ten years ago, I brewed a batch of elderberry wine, and had racked it into its first demijohn. Then, I went away for the weekend to Nottingham, for a wedding I think. While I was their I purchased a nice shirt (again, if memory...

MAGNUM wine kit: Dead still at 1.014 – give up or EC1118?

I appreciate tap water isn't pure, but 1.004 seems high to me, given it should read 1.000 in pure water?

    Mybrewbot - any users?

I'm looking at a Mybrewbot to provide some level of automation and logging to my brewery. Does anyone here have experience of owning one who can offer any words of wisdom? How well does it integrate with Brewfather, for instance?

    How dangerous is it?

So, we aren't worried about copper then? 🤣

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Your going to be so disappointed when you get to the Effes 🤣

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Interesting one this. I had a Wilko (Rip) Cervesa kit that someone gave me for Christmas ages ago. It was going out of date so I thought I'd have a play with it. So I added 1kg of beer enhancer, 500g light spray malt, 500g of dark spray malt, a tin of T&L BlackTreacle and I think 500g if...
