    Bitter Recipe

Magic, thanks all. That’s the hopstand brought back to a late boil addition, might split between 15 and 0 minutes and slightly shorter brew day to boot. I have a small amount of fuggles and BX good to go in the freezer so a natural choice 😊

    Bitter Recipe

Well I've got about a third of a packet of CML Midland yeast left from the weekend's brew, so thought I'd do a small batch bitter. First for me as I've yet to brew one. I've not made a Bitter recipe before, everything I've done has been more hop forward, so any feedback on attached recipe would...

    dlowe1992 brew-days.

Yesterday was AG brew day no 7 (I think). Not without incident.. Anyway, idea was something akin to Tribute from St Austell, with more than a cursory nod to @Clint a recipe on here.. ABV 4.2% OG 1.043 FG 1.011 EBC 11 IBU 30 Pretty much a full volume mash, though had to top up 4 litres or so...

    dctrud's Attempts to Make Beer

Welcome back! Looks a great colour.. I usually find I end up with a lot of trub in the fermentor… there seems to be a school of thought it’s no bad thing for the fermentation, especially as it all settles out given enough time 👍👍

    Ascorbic Acid

I’ve only really noticed it on more heavily hopped beers, though I don’t exactly have a vast repertoire to base this on. I did do a Vienna Pale that’s still good after a good couple of months. In my case, I’m not noticing it to the extent beers aren’t drinkable, more a gradual drop off in...

    Ascorbic Acid

Cheers both. For what it’s worth, I’m sure you’re right. By nature of the process, I see no way you can transfer to a bottling bucket and bottle without introducing some oxygen. I’m on the way with kegs… first corny arrived before Christmas and I’m sure more will follow! I’d like to get to...

Tribute style ale anybody done one ?

Cheers both, suggested pitch rate is 60g / 100L, so my 23L batch would be after about 14g of yeast. I've found another half pack that hasn't been open too long so can pitch the recommended amount. No dramas!

    Ascorbic Acid

Slow work day today so I've been reading through some old threads on here. :laugh8: :laugh8: I'm noticing a little loss in hop flavours in my beer after 1-2 months in the bottle. I put it down to low level oxidation as I rack to a bottling bucket and bottle through a wand, so know I've got...

Tribute style ale anybody done one ?

Enjoyed reading through this thread as I'm planning a Tribute style brew for this weekend. Fairly happy with the recipe which doesn't differ too much from those discussed above, bar subbing in Cornish Gold for Munich (thanks Malt Miller... :)) and increasing the hopstand qties.. One question to...

Yeast Experiment / Mosaic Pale Ale

Quick SG check on these this evening (day 8). All have fermented down from 1.041 to 1.012 / 1.013. By the recipe/Brewfather, they should have another couple of points to go, so I’ll leave til this weekend and bottle. Interesting difference in clarity. From left to right PIA, CLIPPER then FIVE...

    Low Alcohol & Low Calorie

2 out of 2 for Williams Bros so far… very nice

    Low Alcohol & Low Calorie

I’ve also had a delivery from north of the border today. Hoppy IPA first and this isn’t bad at all. Perhaps a touch hoppier than my taste usually, but has some body and very drinkable to the end of the glass. One of the few AFs Ive had and thought I could go straight back for another 😊😊

    Low Alcohol & Low Calorie

If my experience with these is anything to go by, you’re in for a better evening! saw these today and picked a few up. Pleasantly surprised. Retained a head (of sorts) and actually had some body and malt flavour to it. Would definitely buy again 👍👍

    Low Alcohol & Low Calorie

    Now that isn’t too bad… 😊😊

    Low Alcohol & Low Calorie

Interesting thread this. Ive been trying alcohol free and low alcohol lately after some iffy health news. Vast majority isn’t great at all. From a fairly extensive sample, the only ones I’d return to are the Guinness, erdinger and Brooklyn special effects. Brooklyn is very drinkable IMO. I’ll...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Blonde after a long brew day… Cleared beautifully after a few weeks in the keg, not that the picture shows!

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

I’ve been trying a few alcohol frees recently and this is probably the best I’ve found. Brooklyns special effects not bad either…

Yeast Experiment / Mosaic Pale Ale

Well I finally got this brew done today. Will do a full write up but I’ve ended up with three vessels of varying quantities (vessel size being the deciding factor). Will pitch yeast this eve, likely as below. 10l - PIA 7l - Clipper 4l - Five Enough of each to get some good comparisons going..
