Petrol and diesel prices reach new record high

True true - will we see cheap electricity again, who knows! My mate has a £6k solar roof and so he's getting the electric car deal from work as they already have their meter going backwards in the daytime about 2/3 of the year, so may as well charge the car. Ho hum, feels like life will get...

    Keg calamity

Pretty sure it will be fine, is it still venting occasionally through the spunding valve now? I did my first brew in a corny at over 20psi for the full week and it was fine. I personally think yeast is pretty resilient.

Petrol and diesel prices reach new record high

£1.55 for diesel over my way, full tank was £85 - ouch. Cannot wait to get an electric car, but since we only do about a tank of fuel a month (and I generally buy older/cheaper cars) will be a while before they work out as economical for me. I'm lucky my office is doing a pre tax deal to lease a...

    Best NEIPA kit? Muntons hazy?

That looks great! Most AG recipes can be converted to use either liquid or dried malt extract - either with a partial grain mash or without.

    Dry Hopped Lager

Hiya, I've been making the Brew Dog Lost Lager for the last year - which is heavily dry hopped. As I pressure ferment in a corny, I dry hop for the whole fermentation period (which is only 5 or 7 days), before 2 or 3 days cold crash, the move to serving keg. I use both a hop spider and a spare...

    Ooni Pizza ovens

I love my pellet ooni, but after using a friends gas one, I'd go gas in the future. The pizza tastes the same (I don't believe the pellets actually give you a wood smoke flavour) and it was just so much easier. The pellets aren't hard, but it is one more think to clean up and look after. I...

    Do you rack your lager

I used to move all my beers around, to both a 2ndary and a bottling bucket. I haven't done that for a good couple of years now, and my beer is better than ever, so straight to bottle or keg from the primary works well for me.

CO2 YOU - anyone bought their 60l cylinders?

Few threads around about refilling, but sadly it isn't as simple as connecting them together. You want the liquid co2 to be pushed into the receiving canister, so you need to invert your main co2 tank, as though we were refilling a cigarette lighter. Possible but not super simple.

Newbie question on fermentation temperature control - old fridge freezer or diy celotex unit

What are you looking to brew? If you are looking at ale temps (18c ish) then looks like all you will need is the heater, at least at this time of year. I'd go for a short (12 inch) tube heater from screwfix or similar. Will be safer than a bulb. If looking for lager temps then you might need...
