    Returning homebrewer

I also jazzed up a few kits by making the basic kit then throwing in 25 to 50g of dry hops a 3 days before bottling, and also made a 'hop tea' to throw in to up the hops factor. Many of the better kits come with some dry hops but in my mind they are never enough! Very happy to be all grain...

I did a Youngs and liked it, the Wilko kits are decent too, but check out the forum sponsors sites, loads of great choice there! Whatever you brew I'm sure it will be great!

    Sparge bucket.

I have a 1 litre plastic hug that I drilled a few small holes in. I only sparge with 5 litres - I don't bother with a 'proper' sparge - as others, I try to keep my brewing quick and so far everything I've made has been drunk happily!

    Pink soda stream bottles.

No problem, I'd never seen the pink ones myself. My mother uses sodastream for her fizzy water and she has blue, I'd tried to get her to get a full size (6.3kg) canister instead, but they are £100 here in Norfolk, so she didn't fancy that (even if refills are massively cheaper!)

I don't know Hambleton Bard but seems they are still going Beer Kits - Hambleton Bard Dry Malt I started on kits a few years ago and didn't make a kit I didn't like, (though I think the lager kits were the least interesting to drink). What sort of beer do you enjoy? From that someone will be...

Brewing mistakes you really wish you'd avoided...

Thinking 'yeast is yeast' and throwing a Kolsch in an APA - very disappointing brew.

    Labels

My wife uses 'sticky chalkboard lables' to put in most of our jars and bottles - you can write on them with chalk but we use chalk pens. Clean off easy when the contents changes in the jar/bottle. We got a roll of 100 or 200 for less than £5 delivered, can't tell you from where, amazon no doubt.

    Pink soda stream bottles.

Hey, I just did a search of reddit and seems the pink and blue have totally different connectors - blue is screw in, pink is some sort of quick connect - but they are not compatible with each other. So if your adapter is screw in then the pink canister will not work.

Upscaled oatmeal stout- do I need more hops?

    How did it turn out?

    No fermentation activity

Personally I'd just leave well alone for the next week or so before pitching, chances are it will be totally fine. What temp are you planning on fermenting at? I usually brew at 18c unless under pressure, so 13c isn't that far off. You'll be good, just give it time.

    Full Bar Set Up

Oh man! If I had the money and space!

    Hi from Brighton

Good luck, some lovely American pale kits out there. All grain is great fun and not too complex, but easy to start spending a lot of money, but worth every penny in my opinion ;)

    Hi from Brighton

Kits are a great way to start. You can get everything you need from wilko, but will be better off from either a local homebrew shop if you are lucky enough to have one, or hit up on of the forum sponsors. I've not brewed a bad kit yet (though the lager ones are my least favourite), what sort...

    Hand pump : no pressure

You can measure it and look for a foodsafe washer, I found just reversing mine solved my issue.

    Hand pump : no pressure

I'd say beer pumps are very user serviceable. But as foxy says, probs your diaphragm or 'rubber washer'

Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp lays-off 11,000 employees

I think their days have been numbered for ages - young people just aren't there in the numbers they once were, older are drifting away too, they gambled a lot in the metaverse and in oculas that is only just making a profit. Sure they will rumble on another 20 years, but pretty sure somewhere...

President of Global Affairs, I guess his job won't be on the chop for a bit, esp as he is called out in the case with OnlyFans: Nick Clegg, Meta and the OnlyFans allegations | The Week UK They'll want him inside the tent a bit longer!

    Stickers from StickerMule

I saw and advert on Instagram for 10 stickers made to your design and delivered for £1 - I didn't have much need for them, but thought why not - really happy with how they turned out: No idea what I'll use them for - and at £100+ to get 200 more printed, I don't think I'll bother to get any...
