What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Just poured Mrs C a glass of Bohemian Lager. She took one sip, licked her lips and disappeared clutching the glass with both hands. I assume that's a good sign?

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

    Long overdue a re-brew, that's almost a lifetime ago!

Any good? I wouldn't mind taking a shot at that recipe sometime.

    PilgrimHudds Brewdays

An interesting twist on the fuggleduck there. Willamette and first gold has my mouth watering! That should be a cracker. Actually all three beers should be great. That reminds me, I need to get a wheat beer on soon.

    Clear wort, slow fermentation

It's a shame as the Black Sheep seems to have some decent sweetness and body even at 1.005. It'll probably dry out too much but will take a month or so to do so. Rather than 4.1% it's already about 5% as the SG was a couple of points high to begin with. It's another batch that will need to be...

    Clear wort, slow fermentation

Thanks @foxy . Pitching temperature is another variable. I usually pitch 1 or 2 degrees below the fermenting temperature and try to ensure yeast and wort are at similar temperature for pitch. I know the WY1469 was at the correct temperature, it had been out of the fridge for several hours and...

    Nicks90's Brewdays

Hmmm, how low has the gravity got to? That Belle Saison yeast can keep chugging away down towards 1.000 if you give it time. Taking the same reading 3 days apart doesn't necessarily mean its finished with a diastatic strain. You probably already know that wink...

    Clear wort, slow fermentation

Thanks for your detailed reply @matt76, it helps to have someone else knowledgeable to point out things I may have overlooked. I'm of a similar mind to you, I find it hard to believe that clear wort is devoid of nutrients. It's most probably a coincidence. As you say the debate goes on as to...

Is that the reason for the bad photo? Cheers! acheers.

Fermenter Size for Small Batch Brewing

Fermenting 11L in a 30L vessel is more than enough to displace any air with co 2 I would think. There's a lot of co2 put out by the yeast over the course of a week of fermentation so that they be little oxygen left in the FV to spoil your beer. It'll be fine. One of my first all-grain batches...

    bottle priming

I think that for a pilsner, the 2.2 vols co2 figure is more correct. 80g in 40 pints is more like English bitter territory. Go with 120 ish, maybe more. I've gone as high as 180g for a weissbier or IPA and the bottles will hold that fine , but 120 will be reasonable for a lager.

Breaking News - Edwin Poots is elected DUP leader

While I'm no DUP sympathiser, it roundly appears that the DUP have been used as a pawn in the UK gov's agenda, sold down a road of fantasy (i.e. promised more power and prominence) and set up for a huge fail over Brexit. The tantalising whiff of power within the UK that the DUP have been given...

    Clear wort, slow fermentation

Jeez, I thought someone would have an expert opinion on this!? Help me out someone? Have I just got unlucky with two batches in a row, or does creating a really clear wort mean you have to add back nutrients to the FV?

Looks really good. Great colour to complement the lemon flavour.

    Another Kegerator build

The more photos the merrier. On the Fimo clay and daughters thing, my daughter has just finished her GCSE's and now has time on her hands. Her box of Fimo clay that has been stuffed to the back of a cupboard for 4 years or so has been brought out of hibernation this week. She figured out that...

Oh, go on then. Father's Day soon, best clear some space in the cupboard... Rather good, as you'd expect from Hook Norton.

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Seeing as it's Thursday and I have a couple of John Guest fittings to tweak my gas line routing, it would be wrong not to ;) TT Landlord tribute. A little acidic but reasonable flavour and colour. Unfortunately, not as good as the real thing though still an enjoyable pint. Landlord is a tricky...
