    Grainfather G40

It’s great for either overnight mash and/or setting the timer so it heats the water up whilst you’re having your toast. I often prep everything the night before then, when I get into the brew shed in the morning, my water is at the correct temp so I just transfer the sparge water out of the G40...

    Overnight mash on a grainfather?

Are you doing an overnight step mash or a single temp? If a step then I would programme in all the steps, let it run through until the step prior to mash out and hit Pause. Leave it there overnight and hit Start when I woke up for it to heat up to mash out temp. By the time I’ve had a coffee and...

    Death by cycle.

As you were the one on his side of the road shouldn’t you be giving way?

    Death by cycle.

Third party cycle insurance is cheap as chips, you generally get it for free by joining a cycling club, I’ve got mine for joining the London Cycling Campaign. https://lcc.org.uk/insurance/

    Vegans

I’d hope that they would see the washing is out and not light it until later.

    Vegans

They are not telling them what they can and cannot eat, they are asking that they stop filling the air with a BBQ stink. I would be the same if I’d just stuck a load of washing out to dry.

    Fan assisted beer

I did this last weekend, 100°C down to 45°C in a couple of hours for a kettle sour, then after leaving with lacto for a couple of days did a boil in the morning and from 100°C down to 20°C by 4pm for pitching.

    Sour help.

Add the fruit in Brewfather as a secondary addition, if you are using one of those cocktail purées then they have around 10% added sugar… for a 1kg pouch I add 900g of fruit and 100g of sugar to Brewfather. Brewfather then show 3 gravities, pre and post boil plus an ‘total’ one that takes...

    Lager Than Life 2024

Do you know the BJCP competition rules? If you did then you would know that any judge must not judge their own beer. This is a BJCP sanctioned competition with international judges, not half a dozen people mailing you a beer for you to give feedback on. A few of your statements have been quite...

    Lager Than Life 2024

My Czech Premium scored a terrible 20, knew it was going to do badly as my stout loving wife had one the night before and said it was very nice for a lager!

There’s no rule to say they can’t. The main rule for head judge is that they can only judge if they have no knowledge of the association between brewers and beers.

    Bottling with or without drops?

If you have drops left over then use them up! There's two sizes, the Coopers ones are around 4g (usually 60 in a pack) and the Wilkos and Muntons ones are around 2.5-3g (80 to a pack). Coopers specify 1 drop for small bottles and 2 for larger ones, the 3g ones are generally 2 for a 500ml bottle.

    Spectrum Liquid hops

I suppose you could add to sterilised water in a flex chamber, stick that on a stir plate to gently stir it in and then connect to the dump valve and purge.

    RAPT Thermometer on AliExpress

AliExpress is great for Kegland’s small and lightweight items, carb caps, disconnects, spunding valves etc if you get some of those at the same time then overall you’ll save money. Just use Kegland’s store if you’re afraid of getting fakes. There are also a few stores that do fairly cheap...
