    MP Scandals

I have just returned from a short break in France. I presume the utter chaos on the ferries and the Eurotunnel delays we experienced are what they call a "Brexit bonus". Last night the M20 had a 20 mile queue of trucks trying to get to Dover and a contra-flow to accommodate it. If the *******s...

    Steam hat

The postage charge for this seems a bit steep. I bought a similar one from AliEx without the lid for less - it is worth having a good dig amongst the various suppliers they deal with. I have not used mine yet - I vent through a window normally, but this does not work very well when the external...

    Klarstein Mash Kettle Help Needed

I have only just seen this thread as I have been away. To get a controllable rolling boil on a boiler equipped with the controls yours has you do NOT need another thermostat like an Inkbird. What you need is a voltage controller (like a high power light dimmer). You set the controls on your...

Petrol and diesel prices reach new record high

I filed up with diesel for the equivalent of £1.44 a litre yesterday - in Boulogne.

    Anna's Brewdays

I brewed this recipe as well - it was as unlike Harviestoun B&T as it could possibly be. Most of it went down the sink.

Fermzilla Dry-hopping via PCO 1881 Ball Valve - Stuck Pellets

If I dry hop, which I don't do very often, I release the pressure in the fermenter, remove the cap and drop the hops in and then re-pressurise after refitting the cap.

Fermzilla Dry-hopping via PCO 1881 Ball Valve - Stuck Pellets

I found this item pretty useless and sold mine on Ebay!

    Leadership Debate

Because the Convict and his pals deselected them or drove them out - David Gauk, Anna Soubry, Ken Clarke, Rory Stewart, Dominic Grieve to name but a few. Johnson filled his government with clueless nonentities so none of them would eclipse him. Added to that he only wanted Brexiters, which in...

    Leadership Debate

It is difficult watching a contest where you want all the candidates to lose. This dilemma keeps happening: Djokovich v Kyrgios at Wimbledon; Saracens v Leicester Tigers in the RU Premiership final etc., etc.

    Advice on kegerators

You should avoid beer line in the open between your kegerator and taps, as this is a cause of excessive foaming. If the taps are on the kegerator body they are more likely to be cooled efficiently. The Kegland kegerator which I have has a small fan which blows cold air up into the font to help...

Recommendations for the next step up from a BrewZilla v3.1.1

I think it is worth looking at Grainfather again - the G40 is a very different beast from the G30, and although expensive, I am very happy with mine. It is not perfect (of course) but is light years ahead of the Brewzilla 3.1 I had before.

    Harveys of Lewes best bitter

I agree, the yeast is key. Harvey's has a very distinctive flavour, which the MM recipe kit does not match (although I have not tried it with Ringwood yeast). Do they still do any bottle conditioned beer that could be used to build a starter?

    MP Scandals

I seem to remember that Shapps was in trouble some years ago over his business dealings - something about using an alias?

Putting temperature probe in a thermowell

I have similar thermowells on my Keg King snub nose fermenters. I just put the probe in the thermowell as it is - it is a loose fit but seems to work perfectly.

    Malt Miller now using DHL?

I think I shall only have deliveries by the Society's own van from now on; it takes longer usually but is safer.

Which all in one brewing system

It does seem to be the same as the BrewMonk. If you want something cheap, how about this? https://www.amazon.co.uk/oneConcept-Hopfengott-Home-Brewing-Circulating-Programmable/dp/B07LCQPR56/ref=pd_lpo_4?pd_rd_i=B07LCQPR56&psc=1

    Disgraceful Headline from the Guardian

Do the vindictive Tories who screamed about this really not think that a QC and former DPP knows a bit about the law?
