    Rugby World Cup 2023

I don't know what the Georgian for "I'm not taking any crap" is but I thought the referee in the England v. Wales match was excellent. He probably did England a big favour by binning Farrell - things certainly perked up once he was gone.

    Reasonable priced keg washer

I think my pump is 400W - it is well over 20 years old, was bought in France, and lost all its labels ages ago, but it looks very like the 400W ones on Amazon. I use a CIP ball on the business end - if not I think my All-rounders would have taken flight by now. I have a screw thread on the top...

    Reasonable priced keg washer

I built my own, inspired by a post here a few years back. I already had a submersible pump and an old fermentation bucket so it was a pretty straightforward build. I used bits of copper pipe from my odds and ends box for the riser and added a CIP ball to the top,

    Kits I Wouldn't Brew Again

Quite agree - I thought the Wherry kit was pretty dire and nothing like the real thing. If I remember rightly about two thirds of it went down the sink. I bought it along with two Festival kits at the start of the year when I was suffering a bout of ill health and couldn't raise the energy to do...

Brewzilla Gen 4 - Struggling to get to boil point

Having switched to a Gen. 4 from a Grainfather G40 I found the BZ took a bit of getting used to, but now I have its little foibles sorted out I find it an excellent machine.

Brewzilla Gen 4 - Struggling to get to boil point

Did you check that the power was on full (2400W)? It is very easy on the Gen.4 controller to accidentally adjust something as the upper button on the right cycles between power, temperature and pump percentage. I have a Gen. 4 and the boil on 2400W (full power) is pretty ferocious.

    Latest build

It will probably stay working well long after the iPad has suffered Apple's built-in obsolescence.

Are malt prices starting to drop?

Some suppliers have offers at the moment: I have just bought a sack of Dingemann's Pilsner malt for £27 from GEB and THBC have 20% off malt offers at the moment. Fuel prices have dropped this month; is it just wishful thinking on my part to wonder if malt prices might be starting to drop?

    Q. What do you call a Welshman at the World Cup? A: Nigel Owens.

Counterflow chiller quick disconnects - advice needed

I presume these are quick disconnects with 3/8" barbs. Where did you buy them?

    Ebay grain mills.

Exactly, and they can probably analyse each batch in a way that we cannot. As for efficiency, I recently received a sack of crushed by mistake, and my efficiency dropped by about 8% compared with home crushed (on a GF mill) - that is not negligible.

    Ebay grain mills.

I think it is obvious from the fact that so many brewers invest in their own mills that pre-crushed grain is an unreliable variable in the mashing process and one which they feel it is worth while eliminating. There is also the fact that crushed grain in a 25Kg sack can settle during transport...

    Fonio.....interesting article

It is available from Amazon, marketed as a health food, but presumably would need processing before it could be used in a brew.

Clean In Place (CIP) - Yes Please!

There are no other uses - it is very disappointing and not worth buying.

    Plate Chiller question

It makes no difference which way round you use it.

New member with new home bar saying hi!

If you had to drink that much Budweiser to make your bar top you deserve sympathy as well as compliments.

Counterflow chiller quick disconnects - advice needed

The GF chiller I had was like a ribbed plastic drum, I believe earlier ones had separate coils with metal clamps, like the one in the video.

Counterflow chiller quick disconnects - advice needed

Many of the suggestions you have received are not practical for the GF chiller, due to the way the hoses are fixed (the video you included shows the older type of GF chiller - I assume you have the current version, which is differemt). I think you have to know the GF chilller to be able to make...
