    Sodastream gas for serving

I use sodastream bottles quite a lot as they are really convenient and no need to pull my big cylinder out from behind the keezer. I bought a refill adapter and have a second CO2 cylinder in the garage that I use to refill the sodastream bottles. This means I have the convenience of the smaller...

    Storing Cony kegs

When I empty a keg I clean it, then transfer starsan from another keg using CO2 and leave it full of starsan until I have another empty. When another keg empties I clean it and transfer the starsan to this one leaving the other keg full of CO2 at about 10psi. Any keg filled with CO2 is ready to...

    Is 16g co2 enough

Yes, the pressure might not drop off to 0 as there should still be a little pressure in the keg, you will find that you turn the regulator all the way on and pressure is just a few psi. Keep it in the fridge, or somewhere cold while carbonating. I usually do give it a blast of pressure at the...

    Is 16g co2 enough

Ye, you will get a lot of opinions on this... I use set and forget method - carbonate at about 12 psi (depends on temp and style of beer) for at least 2 weeks and keep it at this pressure for serving. The only time I adjust the pressure is if carbonation isnt right. I have 10 corny kegs and 2...

    Is 16g co2 enough

Yes, this will work. I would think it will take more than 2 to carbonate 10L tho, and probably another 3 to serve it. I have a couple of 5L mini kegs that I can take away with me and use the 16g bulbs to dispense. I normally go through about 1.5 bulbs to pour 5L, I carbonate the beer in corny...

    Icemaster G20 glycol chiller

I am planning a unitank and glycol chiller as my next big brew kit purchase later this year. I just spotted an add for a new glycol chiller from kegland - IceMaster G20 - Glycol Chiller - Digital Fermentation Control - (with 2 integrated pumps for dual temp) So far the main chillers available...

Lager kit that uses lager yeast ?

You would probably be best ordering a lager yeast separately and just keep the one from the kit as a backup. You can also choose which yeast to go for then depending on how you want the final lager to taste.

    Grainfather Electric Grain mill

Thanks nibber. 3min rest between batches is decent. Im quite tempted by it as not seen anything of similar looking quality other than the SS brewtech one which is not far shy of a grand.

    Grainfather Electric Grain mill

I have a mill and electric drill but have been looking to replace it with an electric mill like this one. I often do 60-70L batches so can use around 15kg malt per brew. How easy do you think it would be to replace the hopper with something bigger, or to extend the current one? Does the motor...

    Grain mill motor

Thanks for the suggestions so far That sounds like a good plan. I might even have one in the garage, if not I could try to remove one of a car Im about to get scrapped. Another good option, my only concern is the speed might be a bit high... If anyone has tried this it would be good to know if...

    Grain mill motor

I have a bulldog roller mill that I have been using for a while with a 18V drill. Now that I am doing much bigger batches I am milling upto 20kg each batch and last batch burned out my drill, I guess its from prolonged use at very low speed (I use a tie wrap to hold the trigger slightly down so...

    Bottlers of the World, Unite!

Fools! Bottling is the devils work! We at the kegging kollective see you all as mad weirdos who enjoy repeating the same mundane task over and over and over and over and ...... I hated bottling, now have 10 corny kegs and would never look back. I still bottle some beers from the kegs using a...

February 2021 comp - Dark beers

Yours was a great beer. I had it a bit cold at first which made it kind of thin but as it warmed the flavours really shone through, well balanced and easy drinking, really enjoyable beer and no off flavours at all.

    CO2 Again...

There are a few hobbyweld suppliers in the area - Hobbyweld Agent Locator | Home of Rent Free Gas Cylinders Most do food grade CO2, and are around £65 for cylinder deposit and £35 per fill for 6.5kg cylinder, the prices seem to vary slightly between the suppliers but not a huge amount.

February 2021 comp - Dark beers

Finally results are in! It was very interesting tasting so many different beers brewed by different people. Its a shame I had to do it myself as it would have been a lot of fun to have done it with 2 or 3 others, it would also have removed preference towards different beer styles and personal...

    Tap Water Vs Filtered

What type of filter is it? I would say it will most likely be fine. I assume you are doing a kit since you say you will be fermenting with tap water? Id say that as long as you remove the chlorine and chloramine you should be fine to use tap water.
