    Coffee

Ah bugger - I think they’ve been pretty popular given their price. I’ve just checked the Kinu website and they’re available for pre-order, but that’s not a great help if you want one now. I’m afraid I haven’t really looked into the MC2. You might want to take a look on coffeeforumsuk, they’re a...

    Coffee

Hi @strange-steve - what do you drink? Are you after milk drinks or just espresso? A good friend of mine has a Flair and I would thoroughly recommend it. Without getting lucky on eBay I would think it’s likely to be the cheapest way into real espresso. The other thing you really need is a...

    New beginnings with near gear....

Sounds like a good system. When does everything arrive? Make sure to post some pictures of your set up so we can have a look!

    Session’s brewdays

Just tasted the first pint - it’s good! The golden naked oats (GNO) have given it a lot of haze but also a beautiful colour, without the overwhelming sweetness I usually get from a heavy crystal addition. It has a reasonable fine white head. Not shaving-foam like a good weissbier but a decent...

    Grainfather Quality Control

I’d agree with Clint - I used to own a GrainFather and now have a BrewZilla from BrewKegTap. The BrewZilla is great, and to be honest of a similar quality to the Grainfather but with some better thought-out features like the cam locks and false bottom. The only downside really is the position of...

    5l mini kegs

Yup. I ferment in a keg and do exactly the same but with 10L rather than 5L kegs. Works a treat!

    Home made soup recipes

Hey Samale - I’m not a big souper, but really like this. Once you’ve got the chicken sorted (I use the remainder of a cold roast chicken or buy a rotisserie chicken rather than poaching chicken breasts separately) it’s really quick to make and very tasty.

    Curry...!!

I’m slowly working my way through ‘Made In India’ by Meera Sodha. It’s not British Indian restaurant-style curry but more like a book of Gujarati home cooking. I’m really enjoying it and finding lots of flavours I have never tasted before. As a bit of a hardcore meat-addict, I’m finding there...

Interesting question! What’s the mash pH?

    Kegging

That’s what I do - seems to be okay in terms of carbonation level

    Kegging

The regulator should ensure any pressure decrease by the change in beer volume is made up for by allowing extra CO2 in from the soda stream. You shouldn’t need to do anything extra to make it work.

Starting all grain brewing after 45 years rest. Aiming for a Hophead style ale.

Hey Rob - welcome back! I would say the best piece of advice I could give you is to use some decent brewing software. Something like BrewFather (free, straightforward, and a simple interface) is excellent, and what I use, but there are lots of other good options out there. The reason I suggest...

    10l fermenters

I just used a 15L food-grade plastic bucket I picked up for free from a takeaway place. Drilled a hole for a tap and airlock, job done.

Very first AG brew happening tomorrow - totally stoked for this

Today’s the day! I always put my first beer on a new system down as a practice brew. I mentally write it off in my mind as just an experiment, and don’t consider I will get anything particularly drinkable at the end of it... Touch wood I’ve enjoyed almost every one of my beers, but I find...

    Pressurised fermentation in corny keg

A better way which would avoid the possibility of blocking a poppet is to use a floating dip tube like the CaskWidge which has a filter built into it.

    Pressurised fermentation in corny keg

I agree with @foxbat - it should be fine. As @Dutto mentioned though, you may want to use a floating dip tube to make sure you’re drawing the clearest beer off. I personally didn’t have much of a problem with trub when I used to ferment and serve from the same keg (crash cooling for 48 hours...

Lots of hops left in primary fermenter

Leaving them in will be fine, it shouldn’t alter fermentation and at fermentation temperatures I’d be surprised if you found much of a difference in terms of flavour. It’s possible you might get some grassy notes but nothing that’s going to ruin your beer.

Can you add too many hops at flame-out

Hi Bob! I just read your BU:GU thread - sorry, I didn’t realised you’d posted a reply! If you reply to my message or ‘@‘ me it’ll flag in my alerts and I’ll know to take a look. As another poster has mentioned it is the ratio of the gravity of the beer (how much residual sugar is left) to...

Different beer lines for different beers?

Or you could use a flow-control disconnect. Lots of options!
