What are you drinking tonight 2020.

A mate sent me this earlier in the week and for some reason it made me think of @Hazelwood Brewery ! That’s a pint glass stood next to the bottle.....it’s a really nice golden ale, light and spritzy, hint of lemon and gooseberries.

    Belgian Beers to try?

Westmalle Dubbel is available in most UK supermarkets and is a great place to start. Orval is pretty easy to get hold of as well. (Before going much further I’ve just seen Sadfield’s excellent list so I’ll stop!)

    Temp control..

I’ve always understood it exactly as you describe and have done something pretty similar, for example when brewing on consecutive weekends, the first brew will get a week in the fermentation fridge and then get moved into the house to free up the fridge. By that stage fermentation is probably...

    Hazelwood Brewday

Sounds like an interesting experiment, you don’t hear a lot about pale ales being blended, I suppose it’s a lot more faff than a brewery would want to do. Once you like a blend, would be really interesting to them do a brew with the same ratio blended as the hops in the brew, then test side by...

    What did you brew today?

Double brewday today, started just after 6am. Brew 1: a table saison on my main kit. 75% Pilsner malt, 25% flaked wheat. Magnum to bitter, lemondrop and Saaz steeped at flameout. Came out at 1.035 OG and I’d expect MJ French Saison yeast to get it to around 1.002 for 4.5% ABV or thereabouts...

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

Rye, chinook and simcoe is my next ipa. Haven’t brewed an ipa in some time so will be interesting to see how it goes

What's your view on Plastic Pressure Barrels (PBs)?

Great idea for a thread Terry. I started with a 10 litre PB. I didn’t want to brew full batches as I’m the only one drinking it. I used the PB for my first few batches and then started bottling. The PB was ok but there’s definitely a skill to using them correctly and I seemed to make a lot of...

    Curry...!!

Is your barbecue gas or charcoal? I’d always been charcoal but switched to gas a couple of years back as the sellers of the house we moved into left one behind for us. I loved my charcoal barbecue but gas is so good for lamb, because you can control the temperature. I love whacking a butterflied...

    Curry...!!

Veggie feast tonight. Tandoori cauliflower, crispy chilli mushrooms, quinoa pilaf. Ponce it up with sprinkles of pickled red onion, coriander, flaked almonds and mint yoghurt. Looked better in person than the picture and tasted great.

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

Just polished off a Dunkel Bock by @strange-steve while cooking a curry. Might be wine for the rest of the night though, I’m a sucker for a glass (well, a bottle) of rose when it’s summer

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

It felt like an impy Stout Wednesday so time for the monthly quality control check in the batch I made overnight as 2019 became 2020. It’s pretty tasty but definitely a sipper at 10.3%

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

I’ve emptied, cleaned out and tidied my shed today. So that deserves a treat in my view. Can just about make out the 4 from 2014 on the label

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

Barbecuing a lamb shoulder and drinking this. Nice Saison yeast character though pretty restrained, and a floral hop coming through. Perfect beer for a sunny afternoon

    So who's growing chillies 2020?

By the way I’m not trying to be an arse with my spelling of jalapeño, just using autospell!
