    How The F brewday

You're not wrong about the result, ie beer @RichardM I was amazed to find I'd managed anything at all with all the fun the 'gremlins' had yesterday! In all my years of brewing never had anything like it, obviously the odd hiccup, but this was one thing after another! I always make loads of...

..... and despite all that, there it sits this morning, the airlock is blupping away nicely, a healthy krausen sat on top.

    How The F brewday

I have no idea how or what the hell happened today, we all have them, but today ....... My first attempt at a Belgian wheat beer Kept the recipe simple and just a 15 litre batch, nothing too arduous? 2.5 kg Europils 2.5 kg Wheat malt .100 crystal malt 30 g SAAZ @ 60 min 40g Hallertau blanc @...

    Hop spider or not?

I've a hop spider and 'Sainsburys' reusable veg bags. Use pellets, so the hop spider for bittering, then the bags for aroma. Tried bags alone and spider alone, so last brew combo, not ready to sample yet, but using combo of both seems to be 'cleanest' ? ... or maybe I'm indecisive !

    Bitterness

Morning everyone Just seen that Doom Bar is the most popular cask ale in the UK has an IBU of 22 Looking back through my brew book, the last 8 brews I've done the highest IBU is 45 and the lowest is 35 (actual average is 42) Comments in 'the brew book' is that the Citra at 35 was actually the...

    Flu vaccine

I had the 'Hong Kong' flu in 1968 and was seriously ill, parents later admitted they were terrified, I remember little about it. But as a result of that have always had vaccinations when made available. I am about to undergo Radiotherapy/chemo so have had the flu *** already. Have had my...

Small All in one brewing system

Anyone come across a small all in one system (to produce 15 litres or so per brew) that won't break the bank please? I've been looking around and can only find one around £900 which is more than I can run to.

Bulk Priming sugar per litre Help please !

Batch/bulk prime, much better way of doing instead of having to prime each bottle thumb. I don't like highly carbonated beer, so I prime mine at 2 or 3 g per litre. I experimented some years ago, tried priming half a dozen bottles at different rates, even to silly high rates and left the...

    Shaving brushes

Shaving is something I do every day, a number of years ago I was told buy decent kit and it'll repay dividends. Glad I did, at that time shaving was causing irritation, but sorted that out with decent razor, blades, brush and shaving cream. Have a couple of Edwin Jagger razors Brushes, (have...

    In praise of wheat beer

Carrying on with my 15 litre brews, more experimenting, havent put my order in yet so might even change it and do a couple of wheat beers. Haven't started playing with the software yet for ibu/abv, but not too bitter and ABV around 5% I think.

Using a steam cleaner to sanitise bottles

In view of the bottles already being clean, I would think that would be a good alternative, especially at that heat !

Fermenting fridge - is this OK?

I'd taken out the shelves in my brewfridge to clean them and one of the plastic supporting lugs snapped, not much pressure on it, just went. Luckily had some 5mm right angle beading left over from a job. Replaced all the plastic bits, it must simply deteriorate over time.
