    Trump v Biden.

I think Trump cares so little for the people of the US he wouldn't care if it headed into Civil War (it is unlikely, but there is potential for a lot of civil unrest) it would give him opportunity to invoke 'special measures' to carry on as president! Friends 'across the pond' are quite worried...

    Fresh start! Shiny kit .....

I've been brewing on and off since the 1970's .... yes, I've been around a while now:hat: All my gear to date has been a bit Heath Robinson style, nearest I got was a Buffalo boiler with a ball valve tap and a stainless cooling coil! Mrs C finally got me to go for an all in one brewing system...

    Buffalo boiler

I have finally taken the plunge and spent some brass and upgraded my gear! There is a 40 litre buffalo boiler, which is now spare, holds a rolling boil no problem, modified with a ball valve and has a copper manifold type filter fitted. It would be for collection only I'm afraid (currently...

    How The F brewday

Bottled the brew this morning ...... flawless precision NO **** ups. Needless to say, sods law it was excellent :laugh8: Now sat maturing in the brew fridge. My OH came and tried it and her reaction was "Wow, you can brew that again!" I will certainly brew this again, the recipie will be...

If you could only brew 5 styles?

I must admit in my early days of brewing I tried all sorts, well, the best we could in the early 70's ! Various attempts at stouts, mild, lager, porter, heavy ales over the years. Not always successful by any stretch of the imagination asad.:vomitintoilet: I tend to brew what I enjoy...

    Buffalo urn / boiler mods

@UKSkydiver .... I must admit I'm tempted buy an all in one system, but reluctant to fork out big bucks! Apart from that all my kit is a bit heath Robinson, but that's part of the fun (for me) but my boiler is 40 litre and I've cut down from 23 litre brews to 15 (easier for the old bones to...

    Buffalo urn / boiler mods

I've no idea what to suggest, maybe the 'newer' versions of the Buffalo aren't as good as the old ones? Mines a 40 litre boiler, about 12 years old now, the only modifications I made are changing the tap to a ball valve, fitting insulation from a 'camping mat' and cutting a notch in the lid for...

    A series of **** ups?

Unless its patently obvious and the brew is obviously infected, it's always worth keeping a brew for a while, had them in the past where I'd really thought 'no get rid' .... but can't stand waste! Left one recent batch that although it wasn't off, it just wasn't to taste. Moved it from into one...

    Carbonation

Tried all sorts (not Bassets) of things for carbonation over the years, can't say as I've ever noticed any difference with anything, nowadays just stick to ordinary white sugar, serves its purpose well enough. There again I batch prime at quite a low rate of 3g per litre, not particularly keen...

    First wheat beer

@chthon .... will nip out and twitch it up to 22° see what it does then bottle at weekend. Personally not particularly fond of very fizzy beer, but intend to batch prime at 5g per litre which a bit higher than my usual 3g for 'standard' beers, cheers.

    New to Grainfather G30

@Saisonator .... thanks buddy, read through posts again and missed the point regarding recirculating and sparge. So the 'All in one system' could easily be an option in future, as I say, I have moved to producing 15 litre batches so it sounds like it would be fairly straightforward and no need...

    First wheat beer

Brewed my first attempt at a Wheat Beer last Monday (6 days ago) had a measure and test today. Very surprised and equally impressed, especially as it was a bit of an epic/weird brewday. Recipe for 15 litre batch 2.5 kg Europils malt 2.5 kg Wheat malt .50g Crystal 120 40g SAAZ pellet @ 45 mins...

    New to Grainfather G30

Thanks for the input, much appreciated. It will make the decision if/when I replace the present boiler and mash tun easier.

    New to Grainfather G30

That caught my eye, because I only do 15 litre brews nowadays (I had enquired about small batches and was told not enough liquid to circulate?) so maybe going to 18 litre it could be possible? But there again, an All in one system would be a bit OTT if going down the 'no sparge' method ? Just...

First Brew Plans - Wheat Beer. Help appreciated!

Interesting to read this thread, just brewed my first wheat beer this week, when I pitched the yeast and put the FV in the brew fridge the Inkbird temperature was reading 24 ° c The next morning the brew was going like a train, really glad I changed to a blow off tube a while ago! Even more so...
