Testing, testing... Is this how you post? It's been so long. I found a couple of bottles of ESB I bottled back in May. It's rather drinkable now, I wasn't too fond of it before. A bit overcarbed perhaps.

We all have had beers that inexplicably turned out meh 😅 Two weeks before I find out if this one's at least drinkable. Maybe a prolonged period of shed lagering will in order.

Life got the better of me again so I've only just bottled this beer today (got some time off due to self isolating). I figured letting it sit for longer would give the yeast more time to clean up anyway. I've lost my sense of taste and smell so I had the wife on hand for quality control...

Good to be back. The newborn baby and summer heat (mostly the heat) meant I had to take a short brewing hiatus.

I've had a bit of a disaster. I accidentally pitched the yeast for my latest brew at 27°C with no way of cooling it down and now it's chugging away at 25°C a day later. The damage is already done, but has anyone else used M54 at high temperatures, and what was the result? I know California...

Now onto an Augustiner Helles. Crisp and malty and not unlike my Helles I had a sample of yesterday, a little more herbal and less honeyed than mine.

Having a couple from Fairy Glen Brewery. A London Porter and this bitter - Bullie Beer The can opened a bit fizzy so I was surprised when it poured into a perfectly carbonated bitter with a lovely smooth head and floral aroma. It gained a nice doughy smell as it warmed too. Really nice!

Followed by a big bottle of my Cali Helles (Helles brewed with California lager yeast). The first bottle I cracked open was a dud, it hadn't sealed properly and was flat as a pancake! The second was much better, malty and lagery with a touch of honey. It could've done with a touch more...

Nine days off starts now! Kicking it off with a quality control sample of my Muntons Flagship American Pale Ale Still a bit young and yeasty but it's coming together nicely.

That's a good line up. I expect to be at the top next time too 😉
