What are you drinking tonight 2021?

I'm now following HB's tripel with one of my own. It's really interesting doing a direct comparison like this, it highlights flavours that you never pick up in isolation. There's a rather odd hop flavour in mine that I never noticed before and I'm not sure I like it 🤔 I think HB's was a lot...

Beginners Guide to Water Treatment (plus links to more advanced water treatment in post #1)

Personally I would go for something like 100ppm chloride and 200ppm sulphate, but there's plenty of wiggle room so don't worry about hitting that exactly.

I should have put a caveat on that: "in my opinion", so feel free to tell me I'm talking b0llocks :laugh8:

Thanks Hazelwood for the lovely tripel. It looks brown in the picture, but it's actually a beautiful light golden colour 🤔

An early start this afternoon with another of my favourite styles, a Tripel courtesy of @Hazelwood Brewery (please excuse the poncey glass)... Aroma Very fruity, lots of banana up front, a gentle peppery spice, and the distinctive bubblegum aroma. Very lovely indeed. Appearance A nice golden...

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Got this in Tesco, an 11% RIS flavoured with morello cherries and aged in cognac barrels. Its lovely but 500ml is too much, it'll be a struggle to get through.

Covid the *** and the final stage.

Had the *** yesterday, no major side effects, just a bit of a headache and a sore arm. A couple of 9% tripels took the edge off the headache and right as rain today.

Which movie(s) have you watched recently?

I watched a few recently, firstly The Revenant which I enjoyed even more the second time round, it's such a beautiful looking movie and Tom Hardy is fantastic in it. Next was The Box which was fairly incomprehensible and not interesting enough for me to try harder to understand. After the first...

    Diastatic power

I would say that the DP is given for information only but not factored into the equations, so the calculator returns an FG value assuming that there is enough DP to convert it according to the conversion efficiency. Higher DP is not necessarily better but the conversion might be quicker.

Tonight's beer is something very interesting and ambitious from @BeerCat, a Rodenbach Clone. I love a Rodenbach so can't wait to try this... Aroma Earthy brett funk, some acidic sharpness leaning towards acetic, fruity esters with hints of acetate but not unpleasant. Complex and intriguing...

Which movie(s) have you watched recently?

I finally got round to watching this. Bloody hell you weren't joking, that was the most anxiety inducing film I think I've ever seen. The tension is almost unbearable, we could barely watch it. Absolutely loved it though, and some outstanding acting from a bunch of unknown actors!

Tonight's beer is the second of @Markk's brews which is simply titled Summit Pale Ale... Aroma Subtle herbal, earthy, and lightly fruity hop aroma with hints of orange and lemon, and a really nice bready malt aroma coming through. Smells like a good English golden ale. Appearance A lovely...

Actually the first time I made a galaxy smash it had an amazing fruity aroma for about 5 days after bottling and then it faded to nothing very quickly. What brand of pilsner malt did you use out of curiosity?

Tonight's beer is a Passionfruit Cerveza which sounds very interesting, kindly sent by @Markk... Aroma Very clean and subtle but a nice soft, spicy hop aroma, with an earthy, slightly nutty aroma. Appearance Pale straw colour with good clarity, and really good head retention. Very pretty...

Yeah I used a full tablet in 20L so maybe that's too much. Also that's a hell of a hop bill, certainly explains the intense aroma!
