Im fairly sure u can dry most orange peel in the oven on a low temp. I should imagine any sweet oranges will give the same result. There are many regions in the world known for exceptional oranges. Perhaps they have thick skin/minimal pith or high oil content.

I don't think you'd increase the abv by adding sugar, I'd imagine it would have the opposite effect because you're adding 1lt of liquid but only 100g ish sugar.

Quite a few people have used the welschs grape juice in the past so u could try msg them and ask how they got on! If u go back a few pages in this thread there's definitely a few others.

Always try to use 100% juice for your 2.5l per 4.5l then if u want to experiment with another half litre for different flavours and go from there once u have some experience in making and tasting. The second part is just important as you might prefer strong abv, u might prefer "thinner" Wines.
