Started yesterday, varies wildly store to store. Think the rough stores get Carlsberg export and Guinness original stout. :coat:

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

Wilkos finings haven't failed with my supermarket juice wine so far. I've generally tried to make two double batches (4gal) to use all the finings in one go. I know it's more than the instructions. I use the empty 5l plastic water bottles from ashbeck water used for a pale ale to make the...

    Poor Clarity with Added Hops

I do think it's a superficial worry. A wheat beer is a glorious thing and they never clear. Often the"hazy" Beers have added wheat to enhance the "haze". Try Hoegaarden, Erdinger, Blue Moon or even Aldi/Lidls German wheat beer. These are all common place in the big supermarkets. My preference...

    The Homebrew Twang experiment.

I think it's stressed yeast from a number of factors: Too much chlorine in water Too hot/cold (this could be when adding yeast or during fermentation & also large temp fluctuations(EG. Day vs Night) Not enough yeast nutrients Badly produced/Faulty kits Too much extra spray malt being added...

Hoppy beers. Never taste fresh or fruity like commercial

I have seen mentioned here before that dry hopping for too long has an adverse effect on freshness and can ultimately end up being a waste of time and money. I don't know any of the science or whether it's just a perception. It's something I've noticed with my beers that I havent kegged or...

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

As far as I'm aware citric acid is one part of the acid blend. I think it's 3 different acids, I think citric, tartric and malic but I wouldnt quote me on it. It's something I've glanced at and not fully took in.

Keir Starmer: one year in, Labour leader's popularity has plunged

I agree I just wish he took it to Boris a lot more than he does! He's like arsenal at the end of Wenger era! Great up until someone had to shoot, then they passed it sideways or back!

    Geterbrewed?

Price cloaking! The difference between the price you pay Amazon and the price they pay the couriers is just another mark up. It also means their competitors can't negotiate with couriers and their prices.

Keir Starmer: one year in, Labour leader's popularity has plunged

Keir lacks the balls to go all in on Boris, plain and simple. That's why people are loosing interest. If he's a softcock with Boris hell be the same with everything and everyone else. It's a shame caused thought he'd be better than this.

Keir Starmer: one year in, Labour leader's popularity has plunged

Does anyone actually spend almost 3 times their annual salary doing up a rented flat on a 4-6 year lease? Does anyone even spend a third of their annual salary decorating a rented flat?

    All-day drinking beer kit?

Wilkos start at £12 if you have one nearby.

    All-day drinking beer kit?

Wilko and range do one can kits without the added sugar. Brew2bottle strike me as having the lowest priced one can kits. I can't vouch for quality and you'll have to factor in delivery.

    All-day drinking beer kit?

+1 to the idea of a one can kit and no sugar.

    Recommend a brewery tap.

I've lived in Derby for nearly 10 years and I'm sure it's a crime to have never visited the national brewery center in Burton. I have a lot of time for Shiny Brewery I haven't visited their tap but have been to their pub (The Furnace)a few times and always had a quality pint with good variety...

    Recommend a brewery tap.

Hi all I was gonna start a thread asking for brewery tap recommendations in and around St Albans and thought it would be interesting for others if people had any great experiences that they'd like to share. Me and my wife are visiting St Albans at the end of May for our anniversary. She has...

Excessive bottle carbonation - what am I doing wrong?

This method is a little bit faffy but the most consistent carbonation for bottles. For a 20l batch Put a jug on a scale and zero. Weigh sugar eg 5g x 20l = 100g Add boiling water UP TO 200ml INCLUDING the volume of the sugar. Stir and you end up with 200ml of sugar solution. 5ml of sugar...
