    I put 2 gm brewing sugar into every bottle before bottling - and I use some PET bottles - and I open a 500 ml glass bottle on evening 7 - just for health and safety reasons you understand-----------

    3 burco boilers @£70 = £210 ( a few years ago) brewed 600 batches of 40 pints in 15 years = 24,000 pints typical brew grain £4 hops £7 steriliser say £20 per year yeast £20 per year I make that 31 pence a pint

    Waitrose sell Dark Star APA and Revelation - two superb beers. Agree most supermarket beers are very average. Most of my home brews are better than most supermarket beers. Plus it is an enjoyable hobby. Cost is not important to me.

    Priming 500ml flip top bottles

    I use a level teaspoon of brewing sugar to a 750 ml swing top bottle. Over the years I have identified bottles that do not pressurise correctly, and added a second flat rubber washer to them - Sorted !

    trummy - after adding flour and water to starter, it will take 12 to 24 hours to rise. I am East Midlands also (Kettering)
