    Starsan

Chemsan is uk made I think and readily available. I use 5l on brew day and 5l on packaging day and don’t bother to keep it as that’s a low enough cost. No complaints about function. After it’s primary use it is used as final rinse on the kit after washing eg the kettle or fermenter.

    Filtration of Beer/Cider

Won’t it be filtered keg to keg though? If the filter line and receiving keg match the source pressure the co2 will stay in solution rather than nucleate?

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

More from the Lidl box - I like this one.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Not a fan of this seems more beer flavoured.

    No Chill Cubes

For reference I have tried running my immersion chiller from a water butt and pump instead of the mains hose, but the pump just did not provide enough pressure for the job.

    Stout hasn't reached final gravity

Yes keg prime and enjoy then! And stop worrying about the numbers. Then you can decide if you like it - it’s a bit of a kitchen sink recipe, more like porter than stout to my eyes.

    Stout hasn't reached final gravity

This is a shop bought all grain kit isn’t it? So there is no way to know how generous the weights are @foxy Personally it had already fermented out fine before the AA went in, it was never going to 1.011. The enzyme throws a curve ball - if it’s intended for bottling no one can tell if that is...

    Lidl Festbier

I had gone in especially and it was still hard to find them. With Halloween and Xmas filling the shelves these had been stacked to fill the smallest amount of shelf.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

This was so-so but the half of my scwarzbier I had afterwards tasted amazing so there’s something going on there…so I had another half and it’s only Thursday!

    Lidl Festbier

It’s a long box of beer! Available today round here. I don’t think I’ve actually had anything from any of these breweries before.

    Are CamLocks safe?

Only a couple of comments- but the arms are expected to fold down past parallel to lessen risk of loosening, some of your installs prevent this. You are not really wiggling the hose so much as forcing the barb in a specific direction to make it loosen, is there much real world risk? Obviously...

Free gas. 18 litre corny fill instead of 19?

The whole keg setup is normally based on a steady carbonation and top pressure though eg the line restriction to tap. I suppose the worry is that you have several pints of just foam at the start. Still you haven’t spent more having a go than you would getting a cylinder anyway.

Free gas. 18 litre corny fill instead of 19?

If you don’t mind that the start of the keg is very carbonated and the end of the keg is barely carbonated then I guess it works up to a point depending exactly where those numbers end up. The no co2 solution I know of requires an air bag inside the keg that you can manually pump up to get...

    What did you brew today?

I had an early start and made a half keg batch of Sunken Knave household ale from the new Modern Homebrewer book. In deference to the open fermentation thread I’ve had a go - with the small volume in my normal kit it has about a 1:1 height ratio and is open in the brew fridge. After a few days...

    My own schwarzbier.

    Is cask beer this simple?

I have seen instructions for using a corny on its side and dispensing through the gas post. I guess then you can decide whether you let air or co2 into the liquid post based on whether it keeps on pouring or stops due to the vacuum. I have 10l and 12l cornys and a post mount tap so may have a...

    Leon103's brew days

I’ve done a couple of Hana batches and been surprised by how much flavour comes through. Have you compared it with other lager malts?

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

I’m on the birthday beers. Never seen this before but it can’t be new can it? It’s pretty good.

    Greggs vegan sausage rolls

Never the Greggs version but like the Lidl one well enough when it’s in stock.
