    Hello from Brighton, UK

Welcome to the forum! I studied at BIMM, but sadly haven't been able to get back as much as I'd like over the years. I hear there's some good places to drink there now.

May Brew and Swap - Saison

I'd like to be in on this. I just had a Wyeast farmhouse pack delivered. I also have a sorachi ace saison conditioning now with Lallemand farmhouse yeast, however it's really clean. Do we have to get as close to style guidelines as possible?

    Kettle souring lacto sources

I make a lot of lacto fermented pickles, one day I'd like to try using pickle brine. These days though I use Philly sour which I really like.

    February competition - Dark Beers

I've finally finished judging. It was a bit of a mammoth task, I don't think I've judged that many beers before. It was split over 2 days in the end. I think every beer had something to offer and the feedback is constructive criticism on what I (and friends) perceived, and I've tried to give...

I think they're also looking for judges if anyone is interested.

    February competition - Dark Beers

I'm gonna get started real soon, I have 21 to sample so it will probably be over 2 days. I'm really excited. Anyway, here's the dream team: @Hazelwood Brewery @AJA your beers have turned up today. @gibbo_sd just to confirm I also have yours

Liquid Yeast - am I missing something?

As I say, buying a product in bulk and selling it on, there's nothing wrong with that especially if it's cheaper. I've not bought any MJ yeast in a really long time so can't comment on how much it costs compared to the yeast's it might be based on. Also, blending yeasts is definitely adding...

    February competition - Dark Beers

I get people to help. I don't like to waste beer of course so if it's divided up between a few people we each sample a bit. I find 100ml is a good sized sample and then I'll be having 1.7 litres of beer, which isn't outrageous. Previously I have split it over 2 days when I couldn't get enough...

Liquid Yeast - am I missing something?

I love witbier and would love to give this a go, but I currently have about 4 other wheat yeasts sitting my fridge 🤣. I think yeast is my favourite ingredient to play around with. Yeah definitely, dry yeasts are getting better and I do hope dry becomes equal to yeast in both quantity and...

    Fermentors.

I've not really noticed TBH. I can always cold crash as well which helps compact trub. I tend not to save the yeast from those batches either. When I made cider in November I ran out of glass demijohns and put 25 litres of juice in my Fermzilla and it's been tied up ever since. I can't say I've...

    Fermentors.

I have a stainless steel FV, Fermentasauraus, I've also used a FastFerment, but I think I've now come full circle to plastic buckets with a tap. I don't pressure ferment that much and really could live without it. SS is nice but I think the options we get here are kind of small or expensive. The...

I've got ~17 so far with one more on the way maybe. Friday night/saurday morning I will post a photo of the lineup.

Liquid Yeast - am I missing something?

I'm sure side by side many would be able to tell the difference between US05 and WLP001, but even after reading that I still stuck to US05 because it's really good and the ease of use outweighs those gains. However, I got my hands on WLP060 American Ale Blend and it's my favourite Chico yeast...

Liquid Yeast - am I missing something?

I do prefer the ease of dry yeast over liquid but I think for yeast forward styles liquid tastes better. For making saisons, Belgians, wheats etc liquid has always come out better than dry equivalents for me. I really like to brew lager styles too and when I think back to my best batches, they...
