Trying to fix a Whirlpool Arm to my Cygnet

This is exactly what I do - pump wort from bottom tap back to the top through silicone tubing.

Trying to fix a Whirlpool Arm to my Cygnet

I also use a helix and just recirculate the wort during hopstand and chilling ie. pump from bottom tap back to the top with no specific whirlpool system. I find that the helix filters everything such that you end up with a pretty solid mass of gunk surrounding it at the bottom of the boiler and...

    Oxidised bottle from keg :(

I think the answer is to get the right gear. I use a carbonation cap with a length of tube on to fill pet bottles and a counter pressure bottle filler for glass bottles. Both were reasonably cheap from aliexpress and do the job perfectly well.

    Excessive trub

When I use lactose I add it towards the end of the boil. I drain off a litre or so of hot wort and dissolve it in this. Once dissolved the whole lot is added back to the kettle for the last 10 to 15 minutes.

    Excessive trub

Are you sure that the lactose dissolved and hasn't just sunk to the bottom?

Saison Bomb Recovery Strategy - aka I've been a silly billy

Unless I'm missing something I think unfortunately for you it would take far too much sugar than would normally be used for priming to raise the SG by the suggested 30 points. In a 20L batch this would be over 1.5kg of sugar and priming might be more like 100g.

    pH of RO Water

I get the feeling from somewhere that you brew a bit more regularly than me 🤔

    pH of RO Water

This is the filter I have Compact 4-Stage Reverse Osmosis 50gpd (185 Litres) Fish & Aquarium Water Filter System with DI Resin Stage with the resin as posted previously

    pH of RO Water

I was also hoping for a lower TDS, especially looking at the results posted by @Hazelwood Brewery previously. Perhaps I need a new membrane? I have only had it since January and only produced perhaps 250L of RO water though

    pH of RO Water

It's certainly something I could try. Probably won't be until next weekend now though...

    pH of RO Water

I was a bit eager to test my pump so flushed for about 2 minutes instead of my usual 10

    pH of RO Water

They were but I changed them before this test. Bought this MB-115 Mixed Bed DI Resin for Water Fed Pole Window Cleaning and Reverse Osmosis. The crystals I have been sent are orange already - I guess the slightly cheaper price over the other option on their site was because they were not colour...

    pH of RO Water

    pH of RO Water

TDS was 360 from the tap water and 6 from the RO filter

    pH of RO Water

    That's what I was thinking 🤔

    RO Filter Booster Pump Fittings

That looks like a useful kit and much cheaper than some single packs of washers I had looked at

    pH of RO Water

I am sure that when I first got my RO filter I tested the output water and it was pH 6 (cheap pH meter). I have recently tried to be a bit more scientifically accurate with my water treatment and have invested in a more expensive HM pH meter. Tested my RO water yesterday and it was 4.9. Checked...

    RO Filter Booster Pump Fittings

Following discussions on another thread I took the plunge and invested in a booster pump from Vyair for my 50gpd RO filter. Tested it yesterday and found that the output has doubled from 6L/hr to 12L/hr which is great. The only problem I found is that once the push-fit fittings supplied are...

    End Plugs for RO Filter

That is a simple but ingenious idea, although of course there are 3 tubes and I find it's the red waste out tube that leaks the most 🤔 That's kind regards the caps, I will be interested to see what you find out...

    End Plugs for RO Filter

Hi all, I'm getting fed up with the residual water in my RO filter draining out of the tubing as I'm trying to put it away etc. I understand that the membrane should be stored wet so I want to try to limit this but something always runs out as I coil up the tubes and then they invariably spring...
