    Hydrogen Vs BEV cars.

I'm very well versed in all of those arguments. A member of my family is anti EV - on top of the items above he mentions that they are "too heavy", "require 'special' tyres", and my favourite "are unsafe because you can't hear them". Of course he drives a plug in hybrid BMW X3, so it weighs...

    Hydrogen Vs BEV cars.

It's not even a great idea for home heating - this video features someone that has spent many years trying to make it work.

    Hydrogen Vs BEV cars.

I think cost is the biggest thing. How many second hand EVs are there out there that you can buy for under £10k and will do 250 miles on a full charge? If you do that search on Autotrader, there's only one car in the entire UK for sale that meets that criteria...

Cooling options / advice when using a Steam condensor

I'm saying you just drop it in at the end of the boil having cut the power and turned off the steam condenser. Give it a minute and then start chilling. No need to sit it in the boil for 15 minutes.

Cooling options / advice when using a Steam condensor

If your immersion chiller is clean then dropping it into wort at 100C is going to sanitise it within seconds. Just leave it in for a minute before chilling.

    Electric cars.

Went to drive a 3 year old Hyundai Kona Electric on Saturday and really liked it, and more importantly Mrs JockyBrewer did too, so we're almost certainly changing over to electric before the end of the year. The one thing I'm surprised about though is the incentive to draw people towards...

    1. Not sure yet, but about to find out. 2. NA 3. Yes, I'd very much like to change to electric 4. I will almost certainly be doing so in the next 2 months.

What pressure are you measuring volume?

    Hydrogen Vs BEV cars.

Am I missing something here, or couldn’t that same electricity production be used to create hydrogen?

    Hydrogen Vs BEV cars.

But that's not to say that you couldn't produce green/blue hydrogen if required, similar to saying that many EVs are ultimately powered by fossil fuel power stations?

    Electric cars.

Mentioning Polestar 2, I see a bunch of 1 year old cars with only delivery mileage on them for £25-27k: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-search?advertising-location=at_cars&make=Polestar&maximum-mileage=500&moreOptions=visible&postcode=se256lb&price-from=3000&sort=year-asc&year-to=2024

    Electric cars.

All good to know. Everyone I've mentioned this to has praised the electric Kona but said the boot is small. For me the boot is basically a dog carrier so that's fine by me. The newest model is the one I'd ideally like, but second hand cars of that model haven't had the bulk of their...

    Electric cars.

This is the thing - I'm now in the market for a car and I'm keen on an EV, but it's difficult to make it stack up at the moment. I don't do much mileage (5-6k per year), so I won't save a lot compared to an ICE car, but around half of what I do is longer journeys that can be as much as 250...

    Electric cars.

Going back in time a little while to the Luton airport fire and Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Services have concluded it was nothing to do with EVs, not even exacerbated by them. The fire was started by a diesel car, and they specifically call out plastic fuel tanks on ICE cars and a lack of...

    Electric cars.

I'm not sure I agree - the economics have to come in to it too. If you trust the graphic from @Northern_Brewer above then you need nearly 5x the energy input to go as far in a car powered by synthetic fuel as you would an EV, and that will be the cost that consumers see when fuelling their...

    Gelatine

You’re adding it to finished beer which will have a few % of alcohol in it, as well as the antiseptic effect of hops. So long as you’re mixing it in a clean glass or ceramic container it’s almost impossible to pick up anything that will harm your beer.

    Easy clean / Chemsan etc

TFR is also carcinogenic and toxic to your kidneys when ingested. So you could rinse it off, or just not use it in the first place.

    Grainfather GF30 Cleaning Advice

True, I’m just warning that there are people less careful than yourself. For example, I’ve heard of homebrewers accidentally leaving cleaner or sanitiser in their fermenter and then running wort on top of it and then drinking the result anyway.
