I’ve often wondered this, and suspect that the OG as measured would be an underestimate. But I wouldn’t dare let the fruit hang around for so long without adding yeast.
I’ve had some success with both oak leaf, and walnut leaf wine (using the CJ Berry recipe). So I’m wondering about using fig leaves.
Has anyone tried this?
Sorry for the delay. I haven’t felt like drinking so far this year.
Anyway this Dark Rock Espresso Stout is delicious. Little or no head, but tasted great. Nice body, noticeable but subtle coffee flavour, and bitterness. Very drinkable indeed. Thank you!

Thank you so much for your very generous reviews of my Baltic Porter and Norfolk Belge. I am so pleased you liked my beers. Your praise is all the more encouraging because I am very much a beginner. I have only been brewing for a year or so, and I use minimal equipment. Happy...
You have hit the nail on the head. The issue here with HMRC is duty paid (or not) on alcohol. With supermarket booze, duty has been paid. With home brew, duty has not.
Yes, it is still available. And I think is undergoing a mini revival. I’ve started shooting film again. On my 1980s era Pentax. Second hand 35mm cameras and lenses sell cheaply on eBay. But the film and developing are quite expensive!
