    House heating; most efficient way.

This is well known. UFH uses lower water temperatures than radiators. Typically 40° as opposed to 70° in radiators. As we all know from brewing, getting water temperature from 18° to 40° takes a lot less energy than from 18° to 70°.

Yes, but which comes first? :D

    WW3

There have been so many red lines set by Putin, there's a Wikipedia page devoted to them. All kinds of 'escalations' have been mentioned as being red lines likely to lead to action against the west. The supply of F16s, tanks, Germany supplying weapons, Patriot missile systems etc. The reactions...

I agree that it's always financial, but not with the trigger point. The economic elephant in the room was the renewal of EU accession talks that had been reversed by Yanukovych and his consequent self-removal. Joining NATO would not have been as economically significant as joining a large...

Can I half fill a keg (corny)

Just on that purging. Is it not the case that CO2 is heavier than air? So if you introduce CO2 into the headspace and leave for a few minutes, the air will be displaced to the top and will purge first?

Yes. That's the one I was referring to. Not exactly a filled out application for membership form is it? And it was highly unlikely that Russia would join NATO after the spate of invasions and disputes with neighbouring territories that went on in the previous and subsequent years. Azerbaijan...

    WW3

You've failed to address the point I made about the chronology with Petro Poroschenko. And a drop off in trade is hardly unusual when your trade 'partner' has invaded you. That it recovered at all after 2014 is a miracle. Most probably because of the intertwined nature of the two economies...

    WW3

I've heard Putin suggesting (this was in the noughties) that Russia might join NATO (I think the context was the Baltic states joining). And there was some cooperation in the 90s. But I never heard of any actual overtures being made to actually join. Have you a reference? I don't believe I used...

    WW3

This doesn't stack up chronologically. Russia annexed Crimea and invaded "Donbas" in March 2014. Poroshenko didn't become president of Ukraine until June 2014. The delay being the constitutional crisis caused by Yanukovich legging it overnight to Russia which (understandably) hadn't been...

Can I half fill a keg (corny)

Well I'll ask the obvious question first. Why can't you brew an 18L stout? In any case, the headspace shouldn't be an issue if you purge it with CO2. After all, when you're drinking a keg, at some point it's going to be half full and then quarter full etc. But also I'd put in a shout for a...

    Electric cars.

A lot of cars switching back to using ABS sensors because the tyre sensors are proving problematic, especially in extreme weather conditions leading to over and under inflating of tyres.

    WW3

I just don't buy the NATO membership excuse. NATO countries all around Russia that have never made any hostile moves towards it. And then of course Finland and Sweden joined NATO as a direct result of Putin's invasion, so both feet shot off right there. If you believe it's an issue that is. And...

    Electric cars.

Or tyres underinflated. This would be an issue with EVs (and other cars) with low profile tyres. They take much higher pressures >40psi in a lot of cases, very easy for them to lose a bit of pressure and not be noticed. And with the weight, the belt heats up and the tread delaminates.

    House heating; most efficient way.

I did say it was insulation dependant. You've got a heat leaky house, you may as well burn the money instead. 🤣

    WW3

Interesting. You did ask a question though. So I answered it with a possible reason. The lack of information from Ukraine on the target may indicate it was important infrastructure that may have been well covered by AD but not good enough to intercept a very high speed missile.
