    Peach and Green Tea sour

In case anyone has similar questions, this is what I ended up doing (I never brewed it last year. Finally got round to it). Make 1L of green tea at 80°C using 50 tea bags (100g). Remove tea bags and add the tea to the keg, along with 200g of Funkin Peach Puree. Rack beer on top, seal, add...

    UK National Homebrew Competition 2024

I was pleased to score 37 for my American Light Lager - my highest ever score (I've only sent about 6 beers off to comps), and it did 8 points better than the original recipe at last years competition. Doubling the amount of yeast really helped as I only used one packet last year while...

    Märzen

Hi @Alastair70 - do you recall how this turned out? I am looking to brew a Märzen soon myself.

    Scottish National Homebrew Competition 2024

Well done everyone! Mixed results for me. A very poorly performing Golden Ale (I think I know the source of the fault at least) and a reasonable Belgian Blonde. Regardless of my scores, I always feel highly motivated after getting feedback from comps.

    Scottish National Homebrew Competition 2024

I thought exactly the same. I seem to remember a documentary/consumer affairs program showing DHL staff throwing anything marked as fragile, though it was about 10-15 years ago if I recall correctly.

    Scottish National Homebrew Competition 2024

I got confused with Royal Mail/Post Office so am trying out DHL where I drop off at Budgens and they deliver next day (or rather, DHL collect next working day and deliver the day after that). I paid £10 for 2 entries (each being 3×500ml). Paid and printed label online in advance. I do wonder if...

    Scottish National Homebrew Competition 2024

I'll be trying DHL service point to door service for the first time. Dropping off Wednesday so in theory should arrive Friday

Doh, didn't realise others had replied to you already

    Scottish National Homebrew Competition 2024

330ml is the minimum size of each bottle. I wouldn't have thought it's a problem to send separately, though I am only an entrant, not an organiser.

Thank you @YeastFace - really appreciate you clarifying 👍

Is it me or is the shipping window really tight for this comp? (18th - 20th Jan). Without forking out for guaranteed next day, not sure how I would make sure it got there within the window, given unreliability of courier networks.

    Equipment Wanted Beer engine

No need for me to reply to OP as this sums up nicely 👌

    Nitros 70/30

I keep mine at 40psi, rather than dropping the pressure. Yes, you'll need a long length of 3/16, and stout tap as others have said.

    Corny Keg

I'm the opposite. I dont get why not use set and forget. I guess it depends on style, but the beer clears more in the 2 weeks it is carbing up with set and forget. Also, I can never understand why people want to be fiddling with turning gas on, off, changing pressure. I only touch my regulator...

    Cask beer from a keg.

I'm interested in this method as it won't use up CO2. I currently use the cor y and lpg reg set up, but have a few of these kegs from a local pub. How easy is it to replace the bags? Is the plastic coupler just an alternative to the metal one?

    Spotless water

Makes sense, otherwise I imagine they'd be delivering constantly. It must be quite an overhead to maintain the filters and equipment though. On occasions, the one near me has been dispensing for free while they sort out "technical issues", which does make me hope the issues do not affect the...

    Spotless water

I must admit, I don't quite undertand how Spotless make money. I've never spent more than £1 at a time, although I imagine window cleaners are likely using much more than me. Doeas anyone know if the water is processed elsewhere and transported to their sites, or is it filtered in those shipping...

Norwich Amateur Brewers - Brew Like A Monk (14 October 2023)

Well done everyone, and a superbly organised comp. Very useful feedback despite being disappointed with my score. Plenty to learn from!

    Dumping yest - Why?

Why do people dump yeast out of the bottom of their fermenter? I have been looking at a Stainless Steel fermenter such as that linked below and wondering what the benefit of dumping yeast is? https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/30l-stainless-steel-conical-fermenter/?v=79cba1185463
