    Oxygenation of hoppy wort

Thanks for all the additiona responses, really great stuff to know! Looking forward to brewing it now!

can I use 3/16 for gas AND beer line?

+1 for stem reducers, and everything that TETB said. My set up contains goodness knows how many 3/8 stem to 3/16 fittings, but well worth it and they're not too expensive.

    Oxygenation of hoppy wort

That's really good to know. I didn't realise even oxygen in lines would be an issue. Thanks for the advice. I plan to close-transfer from fermzilla to keg, so I shall be sure to purge the lines too!

    Oxygenation of hoppy wort

    That's a good point, I hadn't considered oxy clean as a source.

    Oxygenation of hoppy wort

I'm planning to use wyeast London Ale III for this beer, but I could use dried now you mention it. Would I still need to avoid splashing when transferring wort to fermenter?

    Oxygenation of hoppy wort

I am going to make a hoppy pale ale, which includes 100g hops at flameout and a substantial (300g) dry hop. Ordinarily I would splash the wort in to the fermenter to get plenty of oxygen in for the yeast (London Ale III), but I am also very aware that this style oxidises easily. From which point...

Very Slow Pour From a Keg

Good idea, I'll try that. It's been a while since I had beer in this keg so I'll give.it a go before filling it next. Thanks!

Very Slow Pour From a Keg

I believe so. I have old and new-style kegs and have never had a problem (I transfer to kegs using a grey disconnect, just because it's what I had available at the time). Maybe there are exceptions and it might just be I got lucky. I just checked on all my empty kegs - mixture of new(2021) and...

Very Slow Pour From a Keg

Just a heads-up, the grey disconnect will fit the Liquid out post, so no need to swap - might save some time. I.e grey fit both posts, black only the liquid. EDIT: see response below from Phildo, that this may not be the case for all kegs.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

American Light Lager for me tonight. It got an HM at Lager than Life, and there's not much left in the keg

    Little Earth Fest 2024

Nice one! I'm even more excited now! Good to know about the pub as I did think some non-sour options would be good too. Looking forward to it!

    Little Earth Fest 2024

Tickets for camping sold out in under a minute. The people I know who planned to go didn't manage to get a camping pitch, so I am there on my own, but I'm sure everyone there will be nice

    Little Earth Fest 2024

Is anyone going to Little Earth Fest 2024? https://littleearthproject.com/littleearthfest/ I managed to get a ticket, and was wondering if any other home brewers would be there.

    Leaking gas lines

I exclusively (apart from about 200ml between regulator and non-return valve) use 3/16 line for gas as it is much more flexible. It does require a fair few 3/8 stem to 3/16 John Guest connectors, but worth it in my opinion. For a barbed 3/8 connection, I'd suggest either replacing the barbs with...

    Help with CO2 bottle

Unlikely to be a problem. The reading on the bottle gauge will remain at the same place until the bottlw is almost empty(in so much as the liquid CO2 has gone and all the remains is gas), then it'll drop. When I take delivery of a new bottle, I have a pair of luggage scales to hand. The bottle...

    What did you brew today?

Nice one, I'll gove this a go myself later. Thanks for the additional info!

    What did you brew today?

Is that the Malt Miller fermenter? If so, does that break the thermometer (only goes up to 40 IIRC)? Love this idea!

    Gelatin

Not yet, but plan to try in a couple of weeks in a bitter that I need to clear quickly.
