What are you drinking tonight 2022?

First pour from my 5L keg of Saison. This is the keg that I managed to drop the tip from my bottling wand into while filling. 🤦‍♂️ My worry of it spoiling the beer has been quashed as it's absolutely delish. I can taste hints of the coriander and orange zest in this one - the bottled version...

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

After 250-odd miles of driving around Cornwall over the past few days, I'm on a mission... Next up, my Erdinger clone from TMM AG recipe. Second time brewing this and it doesn't disappoint. Then on to my Saison which is very very moresome. Might stick to this for the rest of the night.

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

Gift from a work colleague. Very well received and delicious. I was expecting it to be very sour, but it was very well balanced, just as described on the can.

    Hyundai and KIA

My priorities in life have changed considerably over the past decade. Family man now, who swopped nippy hatchbacks (I say nippy because I never was a complete petrol head - just a little) for family SUVs. A Mazda 3 MPS was as nippy as I got - and that was actually a very practical family...

    Hyundai and KIA

I was torn between a kid sportage and hyundai tucson. Decided to go with tucson. Glad I did because kia released a face-lift of the sportage not long after I ordered. Anyway, I love the tucson. It's a PHEV automatic. Previously I drove Qashqai diesels and was happy with them, but this tucson is...

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

First bottle of my first ever Saison - a Jon Finch AG recipe from TMM. I don't think I've ever had a Saison before, so I can't compare it to anything. It finished with an FG of 1.002, which is reflected in the taste - quite dry...but moresome! 😁 Its only been bottled for 11 days, so should be...

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

First up was the Tony Singh Indian Lager. I don't have the best sense of smell or taste, but I cannot sense any cardamom at all. It is a decent lager but I won't rush to buy it again. Second up, one I was looking forward to most as I like wits/weiss/weizens, was the Glasgow Breworks New...

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

Picked up a selection of some new beers from Scottish breweries at Aldi today. I'm sampling the Fierce Beer/Tony Singh's collab Citrus Pale first as i was interested how the infusion would work out. Very very slight hint of the coriander in the aroma and taste, and a little aftertaste of the...

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

Going to a friend's house for the day but unfortunately I need to drive, so it's soft drinks and some cans of Guinness 0.0 for me. Fortunately Guinness 0.0 is not too bad!

Brewing mistakes you really wish you'd avoided...

Yes, it was thoroughly sanitised but my worry is that there may be some nasties hidden in the parts that weren't exposed to the sanitiser but are now exposed since coming loose. Strange thing is that I've tried to take the end of before to give it a good clean, but didn't manage because I...

How many litres of home brew have you made 2022.

17L Saison based on a Jon Finch recipe from TMM. Taste from the measuring cylinder is promising! Total 9331 litres

Brewing mistakes you really wish you'd avoided...

Not so much a mistake but an accident and a lesson learned. Be careful when withdrawing the bottling wand from a 5L keg. The end caught on the inside edge of the nozzle and came off. Beer everywhere and the springy end of the wand is now in my keg. Just hope it doesn't infect it.

    Coriander and Lemon Grass

I'm going to brew a saison today, based on a recipe by Jon Finch. It uses 20g of coriander seeds in a 19L batch. Scaling down, that would be approx 12g in a 12L batch. There are obviously personal tastes and saison is a different style, so this is just to give you a comparison. This will be my...

    Elder flower champagne

@An Ankoù - I'm almost ready to add dried elderflower to my rhubarb wine that's almost done fermenting. Bloody covid eventually caught me at the weekend, so I'm a couple of days over the time when I should have racked off the wine. 🤦‍♂️ Anyway, the dried elderflower I have doesn't smell of...

    DIY neoprene brew kettle cover

I missed this post at the weekend. Nice one @DocAnna - looks great. I've been thinking about doing the same for my 25L Klarstein Maischfest - should be a lot easier with there being no control box or fluid gauge to contend with. I might even look into thicker material. Thanks for posting the...

    Completed AG Recipe Kits-GEB/MM

Following on from my previous post on the Idaho 7 NEIPA, I went to a friend's house last night where 4 of us were sampling various home brews. Unfortunately, the other 3 weren't very keen at all on the Idaho 7. The feedback was that although the aroma was amazing, the flavour was very bitter and...

    Completed AG Recipe Kits-GEB/MM

I brewed the Idaho 7 NEIPA AG kit from TMM last month. I kegged 10L (2×5L minikegs) and bottled the remaining 10L. The bottles are delicious and have maintained the citrus hoppy aromas. I poured the first pint from one of the kegs last night and the aromas have dissipated quite a lot. Still a...

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

First time trying these two beers. Both delicious, but I think the Brewdog effort pips the Beavertown at the post. It just seems to pack more flavour and lasts longer on the tongue.
