    Elderberry champagne

I've always used Lalvin EC-1118 with good results https://www.lallemandbrewing.com/en/united-kingdom/products/lalvin-ec-1118/

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

First of my father's day beer selection from my daughters, a 3.8% sessionable hazy pale from Thornbridge. Quaffable grapefruity bitterness and aroma from Mosaic and Simcoe, not dissimilar to Lightbulb. Enjoying my day before back to the grindstone tomorrow after a fortnight's taste of retirement !

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Back home after our holiday my Olicana pale has had another two weeks to condition and is just the job after an epic lawn mowing session.

    Wine making method question

Thanks, I didn't know that as I've only ever used Campden tablets to kill off wild yeast.

    Wine making method question

Possibly recipe calls for a crushed campden tablet as it will also dechlorinate the must.

    Wine making method question

The campden tablet is to kill off any wild yeast ( which may produce unpredictable, unpleasant flavours ) before you add your commercial yeast. Potassium metabisulphate is same as Campden powder in powder form, both basically do the same thing after 24hrs the sulphite will have dissipated.

Yes it's a lovely ale, only seem to see it down your way sadly.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Too late, all drunk now ! Not yet tried salvaging yeast from a bottle, something to try next on my home brew journey. Most beers seem to be getting weaker if anything nowadays, down to tax I think. Had a can of Red Stripe the other day and appalled to see its been reduced to 4.7% - bring back...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Lovely bottle conditioned strong ale from St.Austell brewery - Maris Otter, Crystal malts, Fuggles and Goldings. Last day of holiday, its chucked it down today but can't complain as otherwise we've been lucky with a fortnight of bright sunny weather.

    Who is Taylor Swift

Er no, do you play guitar ? https://proaudioland.com/news/dadgad-tuning/ Or are you just talking about Miss Swift ? Either way it's one of a number of open tunings.

    Who is Taylor Swift

DADGAD is another classic open tuning I like. It's used a lot in folk/celtic music by guitarists such as Bert Jansch, Richard Thompson and Jimmy Page.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Another beautiful day in South West Cornwall. After a chilled day on the deserted beach, feet up with this fine Scottish brew.

My namesake, still an old favourite. Been doing plenty of swimming, reading and a little fishing - caught a giant goby ! ( about 8" long 😄 )

Never see this up our way, a very nice drop. I've seen a few clone recipes for this, tempted to give it a go. Last of the Belgian Abbaye single, Tettnang and Styrian Goldings. Stayed resolutely hazey but a fair first attempt at the style.

Do commercial breweries buy in yeast?

That looks very nice, I brewed a similar but stronger IPA bittered with Admiral which I also used for a small dry hop along with equal amount of Goldings - I'd say go for it. I too fermented with Verdant which I really like in this style. https://share.brewfather.app/L3UgCSd1pekfzs
